Trump 2024
Donald Trump is prepared to announce his 2024 presidential candidacy tonight at 9 PM EST from Mar-a-Lago. Trump originally planned to announce the day before the midterm elections in a rally with JD Vance until his advisors talked him out of it.
Warning shot: On the day of Trump's alleged announcement, Club for Growth released new polling showing Ron DeSantis with a double-digit lead over Donald Trump in a hypothetical match-up in the first two states of the GOP primary calendar. Additionally, DeSantis leads Trump by 26 points in Florida and 20 points in Georgia.
Trump family: The New York Post is reporting Donald Trump failed to convince Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump to join him on stage at his announcement tonight. Jared and Ivanka feel “burned” by Washington and want to avoid another bitter campaign.
Swing states: Over two dozen key Republicans in pivotal swing states told NBC they blamed the midterm losses on Donald Trump. The mix of elected Republicans and party officials who previously supported Trump, claims the former president specifically hurt the GOP in the rust belt and cost them a winnable senate seat in Nevada.
Arizona
Katie Hobbs has officially defeated Kari Lake in the race for Arizona Governor one full week after election day. Unsurprisingly, Lake suggested there was fraud in the election. While Kari Lake and Blake Masters both lost, Arizona Republicans defended their majorities in the state house and state senate.
Damage Control: General Milley’s Gaffe
This is from Politico:
“The Biden administration is in damage control mode after a top U.S. general said a window for peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow could open this winter, with senior officials scrambling to assure Ukraine it wasn’t undercutting its goal of expelling the Russians.
Specifically, senior U.S. officials are telling their counterparts in Ukraine that the expected winter fighting pause doesn’t mean talks should happen imminently. Instead, they’re relaying that Washington will continue to support Kyiv’s militarily as it launches the next phase of advances on the battlefield, according to Ukrainian and U.S. officials familiar with the outreach.”
