Clip of the day:
Wait, China Lied?!
The Chinese government told us the infamous spy balloon was really a weather balloon that simply blew off course. We now know the Chinese controlled the balloon over some of our nation’s most sensitive military sites and transferred real-time data back to mainland China. The balloon was equipped with a self-destruct mechanism that could be detonated by Chinese authorities.
More concerning: The Biden administration knew the balloon was transferring sensitive military data back to mainland China but was unable to stop it.
Everything 2024
Trump: Donald Trump will be arraigned tomorrow in New York following last week’s surprise indictment brought by a Soros-funded District Attorney. The post-indictment national polling for Trump is nothing but the good news with a new poll showing Trump ahead of DeSantis by a 26-point margin.
DeSantis: The Ron DeSantis-affiliated Super PAC Never Back Down has raised a staggering $30 million in less than a month for the unannounced candidate. The group is led by Trump’s former secretary of homeland security Ken Cuccinelli and recently hired Jeff Roe, a campaign veteran who’s worked for the likes of Ted Cruz and Glenn Youngkin. Additionally, DeSantis has a political committee at his disposal that is sitting on more than $82 million as of last month.
Scott: A pro-Tim Scott super PAC is staffing up with South Carolina hires, waiting for a potential announcement. Additionally, the group hired Cory Gardner a popular former Republican Senator from Colorado to be the group’s co-chairman.
Haley vs Pence: A feud is brewing between Pence and Haley if the Politico Playbook is to be believed. In short, each candidate wants to cement themselves as the defacto third-place candidate in the race behind Trump and DeSantis. Go read the full story here.
Oil Problems
OPEC+ announced a shocking cut to global oil production that is aimed at driving prices higher. As a result, oil prices immediately surged, registering their highest daily price hike in more than a year.
Why this matters: The OPEC+ announcement all but solidifies more rate hikes as rising energy costs further impede the Federal Reserve’s fight against inflation.
