Clip of the day:
What is Happening at Twitter?
Elon Musk shut down the Twitter headquarters and suspended badge access until Monday after hundreds of employees decided to leave the company. Musk made an ultimatum demanding employees be "extremely hardcore" or take a three-month severance.
What happened: Chaos reined last night at Twitter as Reuters reported so many engineers had left, the site was susceptible to breaking. Since the Musk takeover, half of Twitter’s 7,500 full-time workers have left the company.
BREAKING: Zeldin vs McDaniel
Lee Zeldin just announced he is running against Ronna McDaniel to be chairman of the Republican National Committee. Zeldin ran an unsuccessful campaign for governor of New York against Kathy Hochul but helped Republicans flip multiple New York congressional seats. South Dakota Governor Kriti Noem is also considering a run.
MBS
Joe Biden’s fist-bumping bud Mohammed bin Salman should be shielded from lawsuits for his role in the murder of Jamal Khashoggi according to the Biden administration. The news is a complete reversal from Biden’s previous position and points the Biden administration’s aim of easing tensions with Saudi Arabia as oil issues loom.
Why? The short answer is there’s no good reason. The long answer is the Biden administration claims Mohammed bin Salman’s “official standing” should shield him from lawsuits from Khashoggi's widow.
Remember when: As a presidential candidate, Joe Biden demanded the United States make a “pariah” out of Saudi Arabia over the Khashoggi killing claiming the act was “flat-out murder.” Tough lines to walk back now.
The Trump Documents
This is from The Washington Post (paywall):
“Federal agents and prosecutors have come to believe former president Donald Trump’s motive for allegedly taking and keeping classified documents was largely his ego and a desire to hold on to the materials as trophies or mementos, according to people familiar with the matter.”
