Clip of the day: Kroger fired two workers for not wearing rainbow flag aprons back in 2020. Now, Kroger wants protection from Republican Senators after facing regulatory backlash over a merger with Albertsons grocery stores. Tom Cotton was having none of it.
Warnock Wins
Raphael Warnock defeated Herschel Walker by 97,597 votes in last night’s runoff election propelling Warnock to his first full six-year term. Without Brian Kemp’s ground game aiding Walker in the runoff, the results would likely have been worse.
While turnout was high on both sides, the dysfunction of the Walker campaign and the shortcomings of the candidate himself culminated in a loss that wasn’t a surprise to anyone.
From Politico: “He should have never run for this seat,” said a person close to the campaign. His campaign loss, the person said, is largely because “Herschel had a ton of baggage he was not transparent about, and we were constantly behind the eight ball.”
Multiple staffers laid additional blame at the feet of Walker’s wife, Julie Blanchard Walker. According to staff conversations with Politico, Mrs. Walker had unrealistic expectations about voter turnout, claiming Walker could get as much as 50% of the black vote. Additionally, Mrs. Walker was a hindrance to plans made by veteran campaign operatives demanding the campaign target heavily Democrat areas instead of courting known Republican voters.
Where’s the cash: Rick Scott’s National Republican Senatorial Committee was critical of the lack of involvement from Mitch McConnell’s Senate Leadership Fund early in the Walker/Warnock race claiming the NRSC spent “millions” while the SLF was late to the game. The data is in and the NRSC spent a paltry $500,000 while McConnell’s team spent $18 million supporting Walker. Rick Scott has questions to answer.
A Coup In Germany
German police arrested 25 citizens accused of plotting to overthrow the German government. The group of citizens from multiple fringe parties believed the German government was run by the “deep state” and drafted plans to attack the German Parliament building before installing a new shadow government. In total, 52 suspects are being investigated by authorities. Go deeper with CNN.

Market snapshot:
The fact that Walker was Trump's hand-picked candidate may have affected the outcome of the Georgia Senate race to some degree.
There are Great White, Blue, Blacktip, Grey, Bluenose sharks.
I thought the article would be complaining about the Great White shark being over represented or not including trans sharks.
