Hunter Biden & The Twitter Hearings
Former Twitter executives testified before the House Oversight Committee and largely admitted mistakes were made in the platform’s decision to suppress the New York Post’s bombshell story on the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop.
What happened: Twitter legal chief Vijaya Gadde - who was terminated when Elon Musk bought the platform - told the committee that she approved the decision to block The Post’s story and should have reversed the misguided decision sooner.
President Biden: The White House and top intelligence officials claimed at the time the story had all of the markings of Russian disinformation. We now know this was not true.
Backstory: In October 2020, The New York Post published a bombshell story on the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop after it was abandoned at a computer repair shop and made available to The Post. Twitter blocked the account of The New York Post claiming the content was hacked or inaccurate and demanded they delete tweets promoting the story.
Dems respond: The White House responded to the hearing by stating “this is not what the American people want their leaders to work on.” Despite multiple mainstream news outlets corroborating that the laptop did indeed belong to Hunter Biden, AOC defiantly claimed the story was fake.
Nancy Mace
All the buzz in Washington is about Nancy Mace’s jokes about fellow Republicans last night at the Washington Press Club Foundation’s annual congressional dinner. Here’s the quote from Politico:
Nancy Mace on Speaker Kevin McCarthy: “Did you watch McCarthy during the speaker vote? I haven’t seen someone assume that many positions to appease crazy Republicans since Stormy Daniels.”
And…
Nancy Mace on Rep. Matt Gaetz: “Let’s be honest: We all knew Matt Gaetz wouldn’t let the speaker vote get to 18. I do have a message from Matt — he really wanted to be here tonight, but he couldn’t find a babysitter.”
