Congresswoman Lauren Boebert of Colorado has advanced a privileged motion on the floor of the House of Representatives to impeach the President of the United States. I find myself in the unusual position of siding with Speaker McCarthy and not the congresswoman. This is, right now, a bad idea poorly timed.
Erick - why not do both? Why not walk and chew gum at the same time? The Biden Democrats are corrupt. The Biden Administration has implemented policies that purposely hurt Americans for the clear purpose to advance their political agenda. But those same Democrats are going to leverage their massive media thumbs on scale to paint the Democrats as benevolent and righteous.
The Republicans are not going to win on kitchen table topics when the average voter knows more about the Kardasians than their political representatives. This a giant American Idol competition where the media can spin a negative narrative about the candidates and topics to push negative emotions in the soft noggins of those voters and motivate them to pull the lever... and that pull is always going to be for Democrats unless the Republicans also fight the battle and paint the other guy as the same level of excrement.
Then there is a core of thinking people... conservatives and center moderates... that will care to hear the details of how the party plans to fix what the Democrats have either broken or refuse to fix.
Before we separated, I would remind my old business partner than when the game is smash-mouth rugby, don't think that playing cricket will work.
I lived through the Nixon era His Vice President had to resign and was convicted of taking kickbacks while Governor of Maryland then Nixon himself had to resign or be impeached. When you have the evidence in black and white and no gray areas and you lay that out before the American people then impeach don’t do it on rumor and hearsay. Also put Hunter up as the poster boy for the rich not paying there fair share. Don’t let the Biden’s off the hook but make sure you have something other than fund raising thoughts
If I remember correctly, Clinton won his first election and said his mantra during the campaign was something like: "it's the economy, stupid!" Even then, he and his campaign advisors knew what the hot button issue of the day was... and that's again the issue today! Please, all you politicians with an 'R' by your name must now embrace Clinton's '92 mantra or face the same consequences seen in '96. Erick, once again, you are spot on!
Erick, I don’t know if you follow “The Liberal Patriot” sub-stack, but he seems to be your “mirror image” as a (mostly) sane liberal. There’s an interesting piece there this morning about how the Democrats are in danger if they don’t find a way to focus on working class issues. There’s a huge pool of voters that are desperate for representatives that will work for them on the issues they care about in their non-political daily lives. The party that steps into that opportunity will win, and the party that then manages to govern that way will keep on winning.
Absolutely correct, Erick. Can some readers here with connections and/or influence get this piece to the ‘firebrand’ Republicans in the house, for them to read and consider? This is the way (Mandalorian 😆).
This analysis is too simplistic. Dole didn’t lose in 1996 because Republicans were too focused on the Clinton crime family. What caused Dole to lose in 96 and for that matter Bush in 92 was Ross Perot. Perot siphoned off votes in both elections in states where the Republican candidate should have won. People forget that Clinton never got over 50% of the popular vote. Where the focus on the Clinton crime family may have played in was Perot’s 3rd party run that said Washington itself was the problem. Perot was the forerunner of Trump. This focus will aid Trump and that’s why his most ardent supporters are the ones leading the charge.
I have always thought impeachment attempts, going back to President Clinton to be a waste of time and money. Unless the party that does the impeaching has 67 votes for conviction after the trial begins, it is a waste of time and money.
I agree with Erick - focus on the economy and the "Woke" culture, not impeachment, which has no chance of going anywhere.
I now think I was so wrong to applaud the Clinton impeachment. Then, 20+ years later, the Dems brought it back as farce. Now, some Reps want to completely normalize it. That path leads nowhere good.
Sometimes the mob calls out for blood and a smart leader is forced to channel that energy. Such as it was with Pontius Pilate when he gave the crowd a choice.
Luke 23:18-24 “Let Barabbas go free!”
The impeachment of Joe Biden is not a “maybe” but inevitable. The Republican party will be far more damaged if they wimp out again, than if they charge ahead. It is now essential that he be impeached, for anything, and soon.
I don’t confuse impeachment with conviction. Impeachment is a political act that rarely results in criminal prosecution. This political act, properly timed, can be an essential tool in winning the 2024 election cycle.
I expect articles of impeachment to be filed, based upon Comer’s work, this December. That puts all the dirt on the table as we debate 2024.
The top 5 issues of the next election are starting to emerge:
1. Kitchen Table Economics
2. Culture Crisis
3. Deep Government Corruption
4. ?
5. ?
Marketed correctly, with the right timing, and the Black community will not vote, the Hispanic community will come out in force and vote conservative, corruption will drive Independents to the Conservatives, and the No Labels 3rd party will suck votes away from Brandon.
Yes, I'm sure there are good reasons for impeachment and even conviction, but again, good luck with convincing 15-20 Democratic senators to go along to convict. To do so, Biden would have to knock over a bank in broad daylight with 500 bystanders .... and even then, it would be close! Good luck with that!
In this target rich environment count on the GOP to once again screw the pooch heading into 2024. Boebert’s lust to impeach Biden shows that all the signs are there for another 2020 style screwup. Combine this with Trump’s passion to get even for 2020 and you have the makings for a permanent Democrat majority as far as the eye can see.
I'm not sure where this analysis comes from showing families can't afford vacations or to eat out. All the beaches have been packed, airlines are booked, restaurants are full. Parents are spending fortunes (and probably their retirement money) on their kids' club sports and other entertainment. All I see are families out spending money. Personally, I do want the Biden crime family headlines and investigation to continue.
We can do both, but major strongly on the issues everyone right of moderate democrats are concerned about. Show we can govern and are not wide-eyed ideologues focused on vengeance.
I hope Bobert is primaried by a more deserving Republican! I have to agree with MYG.

Again .... is force-feeding Republicans this a non-starter? They need to subscribe to your feed--the Republicans at least!

I see where the media wants everyone to Leave Hunter alone and not Harass him because he is a vulnerable addict.
Boebert and Graham: Two Congresspersons INcapable of thinking strategically.

I would not expect impeachment to find him guilty. I just want the mess of the testimony and evidence to disrupt his campaign. Alls fair....
