I would juxtapose this post with Erick's other one today (concerning Marjorie Taylor Greene's motion to vacate the House chair) in arguing that the actions of a few prosecutors no more constitute actions of the left than Greene's constitute acts of the right. Furthermore in regard to those individual prosecutorial decisions, in any case where they win, they would not have been doing their jobs had they not pursued prosecution.

The biggest safeguard that we have against politically motivated prosecutions are juries consisting of ordinary citizens. There having been none in Trump's NY fraud case, his appellate rights are the only check on the whims of just one judge. In sum, I have no problem with the case having been brought against him. (Indeed, I think it deliciously ironic that Trump is now asking people to accept properties as collateral that everyone now knows to be worth less than he says they are worth.). However, fundamental fairness (that is, that there be some safeguard against the whims of just one judge) requires that the bond posting somehow be waived if necessary for Trump to obtain appellate review.

I'm not an expert in the matter, and it's been a while since I was laboring on the lady's plantation, but it seems to me DJT should have a 42 USC sec. 1983 action against quite a number of folks.

This will never be used against the left because they control the media that would strike up the chorus either in favor of them or against a conservative target of theirs

The Prog Left is really, really overplaying its hand in NY and GA. They want to showboat for the crowd and could wind up losing the game.

Prog Left be like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJSN4FgvoNg

And while the feds still have a good case in the classified-docs case (most notably the obstruction), Hur just torpedoed the optics of the case. It's going to be impossible for Joe Sixpack to understand why Biden got a pass and Trump didn't.

Now Trump is floating the idea of taking Truth Social public, and projected valuations have already reached stupid levels (talk about the ultimate meme stonk).

I doubt Trump could IPO it before the election, and there's a ginormous legal can of worms involved even if he were Mr. Clean, but this could be a source of cash and/or collateral.

You have to be a bit older to remember this ad but this may very well be the "Kodak Moment" that gets Trump re-elected. Like Trump or not, few Americans want to see our Justice system so twisted that they agree with this tactic. Time for someone in NY State to stand up to their AG and say "back off" before they put a permanent chill on doing business in NY State and prove Trump's assertion of a personal attack rather than enforcing the law.

I'm referring to the NY judgment. It might be good to spend a little more time looking into the investigation. It should scare the hell out of you. Regarding Washington, I agree with you. Atlanta is more than questionable, which I believe the state will lose in court. I do have a big problem coordinating with the White House counsel. And 'that' should scare the hell out of you. This is my last response. I appreciate the decorum and wish you and yours nothing but the best.

If it is a due process violation how can they let this go? What recourse is left?

The left are not the high and mighty as they see themselves as. They are mean and petty just like everyone else. As for rules of law or rules of society Erick is correct, the left goes by Calvin ball, meaning there are ever changing rules which allow them to win. What is disgusting is the attitude they demonstrate. The attitude of "we the chosen can break the rules at are choosing to crush those we disagree with" and then to actually flaunt that idea while wearing a veneer of smugness.

I once had two law partners who were wrestlers. One was Olympic level. The other had been a high school wrestling coach. They always said that the wrestler that will most likely hurt you is the one who doesn’t know the proper moves. What these leftist “jurists” are doing to Trump is so far outside the normal parameters of the law, that they have left him with no standard procedure to stop them. It’s time for some extraordinary relief of some type. But as a lawyer, my mind cries out to find the normal procedure for Trump to protect his property rights, but I’m at a complete loss. Among the most basic principles of our experiment in Democracy is the government’s “sacred” duty to protect the property rights of citizens. Hence, this use of governmental authority to essentially strip an entire family of its wealth is an abomination. These people are the American definition of pure evil. It’s truly painful to watch. But this is the society that the left wants - and far worse. They are Jim Taggart. They are Ayn Rand’s fourth reason for centralized government. They just want to watch it all burn ….

Erick - the way this is written appears to me to be misleading. The AP review of 70 years was referring to the penalty of dissolution specifically (not the financial penalty) and ultimately Trump's business was not hit with dissolution. The financial penalty was calculated based on things such as lower interest payments that Trump had to pay on his loans for years because of the fraudulent financial statements (not plucked out of thin air). If Trump is as rich as he proclaimed to the court and is willing to put up the sufficient collateral, than he should be able to get a loan/bond. Let's let the legal system on this playout, there is a lot more avenues he can legally pursue to avert seizures and still appeal.

Also writing this article feeds into a narrative (that much of your audience believes) that any attempted prosecution of Trump is "lawfare". Do you believe that to be true? Is that true of the Florida case or the DC case?

I think Jonathon Turley a couple of billionaire developers, even a wealthy Obama supporter have said the actions of both the prosecutor and the judge are far out of the realm of normal, reasonable and legal. Surely there is a court that can step in and stop this. There was no crime in the first place and the punishment is nothing but vengeance based on hate.

Watch this all blow up on the left. Not sure exactly how or when but no question it will be epic. Karma’s a bitch. As for New York, they lit the fuse of their guaranteed death as a world business center.
