Just a quick note here on a point of personal privilege.
Today is my 11th anniversary on radio, officially now making this the longest job I’ve ever kept.
I never intended to get into radio. It wasn’t on the horizon. It was not a life goal. It was providential, just as television had been.
But here I am and now in national syndication. And how is it working out?
Well, in 2021, I was competing against the Braves vying for the World Series and my radio ratings noon to 3 were actually higher in the fall and winter quarters than the Rush Limbaugh Show’s ratings in 2020 during the presidential cycle. I’m not just the most-listened-to talk show in Atlanta. I’m the most listened-to radio program regardless of format for two quarters in a row during that slot. On top of that, on the other stations I’m on, I’m generating better ratings than the shows I replaced.
I am, frankly, struggling to get traction with other stations nationwide. I started in syndication after everyone else and most stations had already left Rush’s show for other stuff. Hopefully, that might change some this year. I could use more stations.
But, my goodness, what a wild and unexpected ride. God has a plan for sure. Being in radio was not in my cards, but it was in his. Thanks to you all for sharing this ride with me and thanks most of all to my wife for putting up with me.
It just shows there is a need for what you do. You share the fruits of the Spirit with all, even those who haven't invited the Spirit to take up residence (yet). The principles you try to live by, silly things like honesty, respect, and accountability, are the grease that has made civilizations flourish and has lifted countless people from abject poverty. We know who's going to win in the end, but that doesn't mean we give evil a free hand to spread suffering in the mean time. We love you for trying and it looks to me like He is now giving you a hint that you're hearing Him correctly. Giving up your privacy to share those principles with the world has real value, even though it's a sacrifice for you and your family.
P.S. I've been a fan since you stepped in for dear Herman.
Erick, Congratulations! I believe one of your mentors told you to trust your listeners. So, let your listeners know what markets you need their support to get your show aired. God Bless!
