I agree that China would be a good GOP platform. But I don't think the RNC has the courage to use it. Conservatives have an abiding fear of being called "Racist," a term that Liberals love to use to castigate anyone with whom they disagree, whether appropriate or not.
I think this piece goes hand-in-glove with the piece you wrote about truth, Erick. Like the internet, Al Gore did not invent the term "an inconvenient truth." It already existed because, by definition, the truth is inconvenient and sometimes downright painful, but that doesn't make it any less the truth. The situation in China is no different than Russian Collusion, Hillary's private email server, Fast and the Furious, and a number of other very serious allegations that a sharp reporter SHOULD BE keen to investigate. Yet they don't, and for me that's inexplicable unless one factors in the spiritual battle waging all around us.
China has no qualms about using wealth obtained from its manufacturing dominance to build up its military strength. The US supply chains are highly dependent on China for medicinal drugs, rare-earth minerals and steel and aluminum among many other products. While many US companies place a very heavy focus on short term quarterly profits, China is willing to trade short-term profits for long term market share and long-term profits. As with Potter' bank-run strategy in "It's a Wonderful Life," China has bought manufacturing dominance that the western world has given away at bargain prices. Even if a globalist strategy seems to make sense from the perspective of theoretical free trade, it is not a brilliant military strategy to let a totalitarian nation have control over the production of vital goods needed in both peace time and in a potential military conflict.
The only issue that Erick misses slightly is that the US media and Democratic party also had a history of throwing their support behind Russia, being strongly against Reagan's effort to confront the evil Soviet empire. In 2009, Forbes magazine even reported that Senator Kennedy is described in KGB documents as being willing to work with the Soviets to help prevent the reelection of Reagan. The quest for political power can make strange bedfellows, and the Democrats drive to increase the power of the federal government and make America more socialistic is not that strange a coupling with either the 1980's Soviets or modern day China.
Yes! This could help even in Philadelphia... However, black and Latino people make up quite a bit of our Armed Forces, and our enemies will be able to talk some of them out of a war with China.... Look, I am sorry to be pessimistic about our great USA. It's strange, and maybe a fantasy, to see hope in Russia! But as far as I know, Russia is no longer communist, is not supporting the Chinese, and is doing more for individual freedom, even freedom of religion, than their regime might want to admit. But they are supporting a hostile regime in Venezuela, so they haven't completely repented. They could slide back to open totalitarianism.
You are absolutely right! The first time I heard someone cry "racism" because someone else criticized China, I felt very disturbed. Many words have been redefined lately, but here was a redefinition of a term that had already been redefined multiple times. All the other new definitions enter the vocabulary as weapons of cultural change, and become political, because politics is the way we enact cultural change against the wishes of the culture.
However, to call criticism of China's political/economic warfare on the US "racism" adds a new twist to an old practice. This is a not-so-subtle statement that the Chinese Communist Party is a person who deserves to be treated with respect. Since the most consistent trait of the Chinese Communist Party is disregard for the fundamental value of the human being, a strategy of ascribing basic humanity to the CCP is the ultimate madness. To do so demands that what does not exist must be treated as an existence that requires not merely respect but deference. This new "Emperor's New Clothes" story is neither entertaining nor educational. This story is dangerous.
The political entity that is China has never had the best interests of the USA or any other country at heart. The political entity that is the Chinese Communist Party is the ultimate empire builder, and all nations should deal with it as an enemy, no matter how peaceful it may appear to foreign eyes. The people of the USA must never treat any human being as subhuman, the attitude at the core of racism, but the people and the government of the USA must always recognize the Chinese Communist Party as a dangerous and dishonorable opponent.

You nailed it. Americans need to wake up and realize China is not our friend.
Love it!!
