Erick, serious question: now that the Dems already have control of the Senate, can you make a compelling argument why I should vote for Walker? Not sure I can hold my nose twice...
I’m voting Walker because my stomach churns at the thought of a radical leftist “pastor” being my senator until January 2029.
Here’s a more practical reason. If Biden departs for whatever reason, there will no longer be a VP Harris to break ties. If it’s 51-49, the Dems still control. If it’s 50-50, they have to compromise even to get a new VP confirmed.
Whether Trump decides to "go gentle into that good night" or whether he will "rage, rage against the dying of the light" before he goes away... I just want him gone.
Desantis/Youngkin/Noem/Pence/Kemp anyone but Trump 2024!!
I shared this with all eight of my married children (total of 16 votes with spouses). Kids, these my thoughts about the future Republican ticket for president in 2024. As it stands right now, my dream ticket would be Mike Pence running for president with Ron DeSantis his vice president and Mike Pompeo either his secretary of defense, or Secretary of State.
Here are my reasons why: First, Mike Pence has White House experience. That is not his most important quality however. The most important quality is the fact that he’s a saved man and not ashamed to say so publicly, and very evidently, he is a humble man. He demonstrated his courage and boldness to stand on principles and the constitution rather than bend to the browbeating of former President Trump. I can’t over emphasize the importance of having someone in the White House like that.
Ron DeSantis is a good man as far as I can see, despite what Trump says he knows about him. He has shown he has leadership ability and can make good decisions for his state. My view is that he is young and gaining valuable experience at the state level. If he could mentor under a President Pence that would be very helpful for him in the future running for president. We most certainly need principled and wise Republicans in the White House! As it stands right now, I will not be voting for Trump under any circumstances, if for no other reason than that during his first run during the primaries he denigrated (meaning he sought to blacken the reputation of) too many good men and women in order to advance his own election to the White House. He has once again threatened to do so to Ron DeSantis. In other words, he has not changed. Many of us have been led to believe that President Trump produced such good policies that it was worth putting up with his obvious narcissism. In my view there are several others who can advance good policy without all the self-promotion. Final thought: He’s simply too old. I know he doesn’t look any older, and he is surely much better shape than our current president, but we need not only a clear mind, but principled leadership for the duration, meaning two four-year terms.
Since the Nixon vs Kennedy debate politics has been played on the screen. And it is a Madison Ave. branding game that seeks achieve emotional capture... just like for tangible products. The Democrats have become masters at the game, the GOP has failed to adapt and adopt. Trump came in with skills in the media space and was successful at the game of emotional capture. But lacking any help from the old feckless GOP establishment, and having part of it as his enemy, he was on his own... and the Democrats, still the masters and having cemented their media persuasion enterprise, beat Trump down to a bloody pulp.
So we are left with the dilemma of exhaustion over the Democrat 24x7 Trump Derangement Syndrome machine, but a GOP that still does not know how to play the game and thus will get trounced without Trump.
Sorry kids, there is no Ronny Reagan to ride in on a white horse and save the nation. And even if Ronny were alive and running today, he would still have the problem of facing a GOP-hostile, DEM-backing mainstream press and new media. In time, every GOP candidate will have his/her brand perception shape-shifted by this Dem persuasion enterprise to be one step up from Satan (unless it is a GOP candidate duck that quacks like a Democrat... which then does not really help).
The GOP needs a media-savvy fighter holding a traditional conservative platform. If not Trump, then whom?
Completely agree. Time to move on.

I moved into our new house this weekend and threw away my Trump Girl shirt. I am over Trump I voted for him twice but, I’m moving on. I really am.

I love NPR's headline. If they were that honest with every politician they would be defunded in about thirty minutes.

You are correct. The messenger is the problem. Trump did many good things for our country as president, but he is just in the way now.
Bingo... the messenger is making people tune out the message
Well said Erick...
We have at least a year before primaries a lot can change for better or worse I’m thinking worse If Trumps whine machine kicks in he loses
