Wasn't it Bin Laden that put a contract out on then president Obama but explicitly said do not kill Biden because he wanted the fool to become president?

When will we stop picking candidates emotionally. I like Niki she’s a very smart woman but DeSantis has everything we need right now and none of the baggage. Unfortunately he doesn’t have the what I call the elitist IT factor like Newsom or Trumps showmanship. She is getting a lot of I want a woman Pres. votes.

"I am not a smart man." Who said these words? Was it Forest Gump or Joe Biden? Well, we all know it was Forest Gump, but if you think it doesn't apply to Joe Biden, well, you are not a smart person.

Biden and the "progressives" are SO BAD, that Eric seems to be warming to Trump. Could that be!?

There is not one person in this administration that is qualified for there job including the president and Vice President cabinet members and department heads .Democrats and Republicans ignore the debt and spend like drunks with a Mastercard with no limit. It’s time to clean house before it’s to late big spenders need to go. Cut the size of the bureaucracy and be able to defend this country from our enemies

I fully agree with you on all you said, but I would add more. I was in the USMC 1954/1978 and there are FEW Marines today because they are NOT drilled and gotten into shape like we did. But with this administration giving space to all kinds of two legged people in the service today, we are going down if things do NOT change rapidly. We have the ONE WORLD GOV telling Joeee what to do and say, they are working with the CDC, WHO, WEM to take over ALL the world very very soon.

Biden will be blowing his own horn on how HE dropped the price of gas with his Bidenomics. Look it's working. No one will even look to see how he did it. Let's borrow more money from China so that they can afford more oil from Iran and Russia so we can pay for the Ukranian war that is fighting Russia and "try" to help Israel fight Hamas who is financed by Iran . Makes sense to me.

A lot of people - reasonable and intelligent ones - want to stop Trump. I guess they consider Trump a bigger threat to America than radical Islam or communism. This is deranged thinking, indicative of a lack of understanding of history.

Replacing Trump in the primaries with a better candidate who can stay in office 8 years is the best solution. The alternative if Biden drops out is 4 more years of Democrat terror in the middle east.

Ron DeSantis

A girlfriend and I discussed DeSantis over dinner last night. My gut says that she has typically voted Democrat, while I have voted Republican. She and I both like Vivek. We also both agree that Ron DeSantis is *the* candidate that the conservative right has been waiting for. He's all but perfect. My friend described him as "the Republican's version of JFK." DeSantis has everything going for him: Ivy league, young, smart, proven, conservative, veteran, handsome, athletic, articulate, great wife, beautiful family, popular governor, right on COVID. I'm so angry at Republicans for looking the gift horse in the mouth just because DeSantis had the nerve to run against Trump. Aaargh.

I like Ron but he hasn't attracted the interest of Republican voters. At this point it looks like Nikki is the only candidate who has a chance of beating Trump in the primaries. We will find out in a month or so if we get Nikki, Ron or Donald. I am expecting Donald's numbers to drop if Nikki is supported by a serious advertising campaign. At this time of year, polls can swing dramatically.

Voters really need to pay attention to what's happening in Georgia before nominating Trump. Erick's piece a couple days ago outlined the current status of his racketeering charges: No deals for DJT, deals were cut with two former affiliates who will now testify against him, and it will be at least a year before Trump's trial gets started. It's very possible Trump gets nominated, wins the election, and is jailed a year later. At the very least, it will be impossible for him to give his full attention to the presidency, I don't care how good he is at multi-tasking.

No offense but Nikki Haley has way too much swamp mud on her shoes. She is just like the Bushs'. I don't believe the polls. She talks about doing what DeSantis has already done.

If it's Nikki vs Michelle Obama, who would you pick?

Trump loses by 10 points if Biden drops out.

Ron is OK if he can start to pull votes from Trump which he as failed to do over the last 3 months.

Michelle makes me cringe. She doesn't even like this country and has bitch written all over her. Biden (or whoever is running this country) is trying to finish what Obama started. I will admit Governor DeSantis' is slow to get his message out there but it is a great message.

A bit off topic, but I wonder who pushed Obama to whack Bin Laden? He tended to bow to people like that, not order their demise. Biden would have found a way to make BL even more rich if still alive. ;-)

Biden was dithering in the corner regarding bin laden...I'm thinking that

Joe would still be pondering that decision if OBL was still causing havoc.

Even further off topic, on the long Thanksgiving drive I listened to an old Megyn Kelly interview with Robert O'Neill, the Navy SEAL who killed bin Laden. Kelly had described it as her best interview ever. It was absolutely fascinating.

We need a sane Republican president to clean up this mess.

It was good news to hear that a major donor is backing Nikki Haley and will begin a national campaign supporting her. I wonder what 4 weeks of national advertising supporting her will do to her polls, and to Donald's as well.

A vile, spite-filled, lazy, unintelligent, vulgar, short-tempered, self-worshipping disgrace of a man who's in way over his head and who consistently ignores advice from those far smarter and experienced than he is. He never will pay a personal price, nor will his family, for the worldwide danger and destruction that his stubborn incompetence has created for all of us.

And we all will pay that price for many years now, as will our children. Including likely a series of muslim terrorist attacks that will take place, once again, on our soil.

Maybe someone more informed than I am can comment on this. While the world is distracted by TikTok and the presidential election and the Israel war and the Ukraine war, nations all over the world are aligning in BRICS. If those nations succeed in their goals and the US dollar is no longer the recognized currency of the world, will there be anything at all the US can do to impose sanctions on Iran?

Expand full comment

Don't claim to be a currency specialist, EB, but at this point BRIC is a thorn in the side..a trend we would like NOT to see become meaningful.

It is my opinion that it is our debt and spending fueling the BRIC phenomenon, not that global trade is itching for a change. The cast of characters comprising BRIC are not a group upon which to base much confidence. Goof-ball socialist Lula and two dictators in Poo-bear and Putin, all three of which post economic data exactly no one trusts. India perplexes me. Maybe a way to keep China at bay without sword rattling? "keep your friends close and your enemies closer"?

The minute we get our fiscal house in order (the clock is ticking and few have that as a priority, sadly) the BRIC nations are yesterday's news. We are the barometer, not them/they.

Expand full comment

Thank you for weighing in. Getting our fiscal house in order should be a top priority, second only to national security. In my opinion, the foreign wars we finance and engage in are hurting us in both of these respects, and they're certainly fueling the momentum of the BRICS alliance. They may be a rag-tag group now, but they seem to be gaining world support while we're getting weaker. Our national debt is a huge concern, and it makes us vulnerable. Our two leading candidates, Trump and Biden, have proved to be big spenders. I'm ready for someone to gut the federal government.

Expand full comment

I am not so sure we are getting weaker in terms of armament, but surely China is getting stronger, EB. I do think our armed forces have LOST THEIR WAY. What idiot doesn't understand who their volunteer demographic is? The Military is doing a Bud Light in slow motion. What did these geniuses expect to happen to recruitment when they pushed woke non-sense? White surburban women are not the demographic which enlists to serve. It's the rural patriotic familes which raise these types of people. My Goodness, what stupidity.

There is so much low hanging fruit in terms of cutting gov, but since the federal gov and their spouces form the largest voting demographic in America, the Left surely has little incentive to make cuts. Besides their duty and it being the right thing to do, of course. The Right? Afraid of what the Left and media will push out. Killing children, starving the poor, throwing Grandma over a cliff...

My brother and his wife are Majors in the US Army. My son, an Eagle Scout, was a cadet at UNG last year and left the program to pursue another path. Our family, like many conservative families, has always been pro-military and pro-Scouting. What we're seeing happen to both institutions is sad. As a white suburban woman myself, I'm sick of what white suburban women are doing to our country.

I happen to like Vivek's plan for firing federal government employees. At least he's thinking outside the box.

The bitter irony is that it takes the federal government to gut the federal government.

We need a congressional declaration so that something like this can be viewed as giving "aid and comfort to our enemies." Ah but the GOP is spineless and we excuse their inaction by tossing around the ambiguous "Establishment" word, which fails to attack to anyone in particular. This ambiguity is what gives all republicans cover to avoid standing on anything that would look like a principle except for a very select few, which of course includes "your guy."
