Macon Georgia native now living in Duluth, naturalized, white, gun owning, pro-choice, foster parent, and daddy to three school aged kids. So, RKelly, are you so intolerant of others ideas that you believe they must be fabricated?
There should be a national gun registry. Gun owners should have to travel to their state capital annually to validate their inventory. Interview with a government representative, and submit to a mental health evaluation. Every year.
The bright side,
1. keep your guns according to the 2nd amendment.
2. A massive new source for jobs.
3. New spending for facilities at every state capital
I can see responsible law-abiding citizens such as yourself complying with these suggested requirements, but what about the criminal element of our society? Do you see them "checking in" to validate and submit to an interview and mental health eval.?
Whoa... stopped the press's! Cooter has figured out that criminals do not obey the law!
What's the point of having laws then?
Cooter, I don't want to needlessly ridicule your statement, obviously the criminal element will ignore this registry requirement. The people who want to comply with the law, such as you and I, will benefit from this registry because it tightens down the dangerous level of latitude we have in our gun ownership. It makes us work a little harder, for the benefit of having a free society.
There is a big difference between responsible, law abiding gun owners, and criminals. This registry places a very large, unmistakable, distinguishing element to identify who is who. I happen to think that is good for society and good for our 2nd amendment rights to own firearms.
If these shootings continue, we will eventually lose our leverage to fight against those who would repeal the 2nd amendment entirely. Those people already exists as I'm sure you know. They get stronger with every shooting incident. Would you rather go my way, or their way?
What percent of the guns used in that linked article were illegally owned? My guess, less than 20%. The others would have either complied with the law, given up their weapons, or decide to keep them illegally, making them criminals. I personally, would comply. I think most others law abiding citizens would as well. What’s your objection exactly?
I’m beginning to doubt your cognitive ability to understand very much of anything.
The Uvalde Texas shooter purchased his guns legally just a few days prior to the incident. He would have been required to undergo a mental health evaluation under this plan.
Are the Democrats arrogant, apathetic, ignorant or clueless with how this will reverberate through American culture? Especially given the increase of gun ownership since 2020!

Perhaps I'm missing something.

Everyone is a law abiding citizen until they commit their first crime.
Well then, you need to run down to your local police precinct and submit your DNA because you're not a rapist until you commit your first rape.
I know liberals think of 1984 as a how to guide, but you're going full Minority Report.
Jibberish
Just so I understand, you believe the people committing these shootings would willingly comply with your registry requirements?

20%?

That 7 year old article clearly illustrates why we need stricter laws and enforcement on the purchase of ammunition.
I’m beginning to doubt your cognitive ability to understand very much of anything.

I can't tell if this is
1) satire
2) you are foriegn agitator
3) just a stupid liberal
Clearly #2 or #3

Makes me wish I would have bought holsters as Christmas presents for my liberal friends.

Yes, they are - on this and so many other things. Ideologues, especially Marxist ones, are like that, you know.
I suspect Jean-Pierre's answer to that question would be, "don't know, don't care."
It's not in her binder, so you'll never know.
Funny. Really funny!
I guess we are going to have to have an “April 19, 1775” moment to get the Left to pay attention, apparently. Let’s get it over with.
