Of course I know that some of the pubs lean left, at least editorially. It is always good to keep up with what the enemy is up to.

The Huffington Post will have nothing to write about when Donald Trump leaves office. The Huffington Post is the biggest joke and I do hope everybody knows about Ariana Huffington. On another note everyone of those 12 judges who were given anonymity to rant and rave about Donald Trump and the Supreme Court must be named! Because they now must recuse themselves from any case involving Trump or the Trump administration. They are completely compromised. On one further note I do hope that Donald Trump does send in ICE and the National Guard and federal troops to the cities that he has named . And if the Democrats who run those cities interfere in anyway, with the lawful activity of the federal personnel, then those Democrats should be arrested and charged with conspiracy to obstruct the United States of America. The great enemy to our country are liberal Democrats.

Ho hum. If blue sky went belly up tomorrow, another website would take its place the day after. Social media is symptomatic of the real world, not causal. What does it mean to me personally? I have 2 of 165 Facebook friends who are flaming liberals, and now they spout less on Facebook and more on Bluesky. No downside there!

jabster's avatar

I went to BlueSky, and there are two types of people on it:

1) Starving artists (no, I didn't see any of the furry sex art)

2) Omnicausers reciting the same talking points about the cause du jour in unison. They look like a murmuration of starlings, all flying in sync.

Erick: Will "Truth Social Brain" be the sequel to this piece? If so, I cannot wait!

We all have our opinions and are entitled to them. The First Amendment guarantees that. However, Fringe Left like BlueSky and Fringe Right facilitate and perpetuate bad ideology and policy that are bad for our country/society and in some instances actually are a form of evil. Very sad this is the reality in what amounts to the Greatest Nation in the history of the world. Please notice I didn't see perfect, I simply said the best and constantly working to get better.

Erick - Keep doing what you're doing. So enjoy reading your column every morning, including the WIDE range of reader comments. Wow! People, get a grip! The LEFT and the RIGHT are not monoliths. They are US, dots on a continuum, in this case the political spectrum, with each individual carrying their own set of beliefs, preferences, and practices based on their own unique lived experiences. My thing happens to be faith and family. I will vote for the party that in my mind does the most to support these two foundational pillars of society, and for me that's the GOP. In fact, the Democrat party of late, as in the past decade or so, doesn't even come close and in fact is so far from the Democrat party that my parents knew and supported their entire lives as to be unrecognizable. What happened to the pro-life wing of the Democrat party? What happened to family, God and prayer? The party has been subverted by radicals and nutcases and is nearly irredeemable in my eyes. Ah, but what about Trump, the dictator, the demigod, evil incarnate? Well, I've been following Donald Trump since the 90s when our companies first did business together, and I can honestly say he is none of those things, and he really does love this country, and he has always had a unique connection to the common man. I've witnessed it first hand. Is Trump perfect? Far from it. Was King David, an adulterer and murderer, perfect? Far from it, and yet he was a man after God's own heart. Like I've said before, God writes straight with crooked lines. You might hate and abhor every word and breath that comes from the mouth of President Trump, but I believe history will judge him very kindly.

IMO, the big question here is this: Where does this end? There are those on both sides who liken what is happening in the US to what happened in pre-WWII Germany, and there are certainly parallels. But there are also parallels with pre-Soviet Russia, pre-communist China, pre-communist Vietnam, et al. All led to revolution, and none are success stories. We are not in a good place people, and we have ourselves to blame. We continue consuming the same media and continue sending back the same politicians who intentionally and eternally stir up outrage for their own benefit while never acknowledging that we are playing into their manipulative hands.

Liberalism is a mental disorder and liberals / progressives go about proving it day after day…

The odd thing is so many are very privileged white women - why is that? They’re also extremely angry. They are some of the most privileged people in the history of the entire world, but they’re completely miserable.

TravlnSuz's avatar

Agree on your points. But then, many of us were or are not known for our savvy delivery. I have a sib who can thoroughly dress one down & the recipient comes away saying, "Thank you, sir, may I have another?"

TravlnSuz's avatar

BYW, Southern Planter & Blair wear me out. Of course, that may be what they're aiming for. Haha.

Tucker Scofield's avatar

Me too, but they're typically not wrong. A lot of times it's hard to objectively consider their point of view because of the vitriol. And BTW guys, you're never going to get a positive reaction by calling someone's baby ugly (i.e., Trump). That said, they are generally on point in stating that this stuff happens with both sides. We can't claim the left to be raving lunatics without acknowledging the same (or similar) of many on the right. To ignore that is hypocrisy, which we all detest (or should). Blair and Southern Planter don't like Trump, and that's okay. I think they just need to work a little on their delivery :)

I can understand how people on the left believe the storyline on their screens. They work with screens everyday. How they interact with their screens determines their economic status, social status, and friends. They do not understand it is an unreliable model that randomly reflects reality. Those of us that work with steel, concrete, and other reality based items view reality differently.

Tucker Scofield's avatar

Great point, Ray! Erick uses the term "get out and touch some grass," but I like the way you stated this.

Southern Planter's avatar

Thanks for the advice, Tucker. In my comments, as Blair stated below, I too am much more arrogant and sarcastic (admitted!) than I am with my many Trumpy friends. This is because I have learned the hard way that no matter how rational one is or how many facts with which one is armed, some people will simply believe what they want to believe. My frustration with this has gotten me into trouble in some personal relationships -- hard to believe, I know! But now I have just had to accept that some of my friends, who's intelligence and patriotism I once admired, are susceptible to cult think, just as some are to alcohol. It is simply in their nature, and they cannot help it. On this forum, however, I can say to strangers the things that I would like to say to my friends, but with no unpleasant repercussions. So, please understand that this is therapy for me, not for TDS, but as a soothing salve for the loss of my once firmly held belief that logic, reason, and objective truth were widely held attributes of my lifelong party and my fellow conservatives.

There's a line between being NeverTrump (a good case can be made for that) and being NeverTrump all day, all night, in stereo. The latter is just rocking a hobbyhorse.

I have to deal with some very left-wing friends who can't see that when Trump does something boneheadedly stupid, the Dems ask the GOP to hold their beer.

Southern Planter's avatar

Thankfully, I don't have to deal with any left-wing friends. The credulity of the Trumpy ones is all the frustration I can bear.

Tucker Scofield's avatar

To you both, I feel you on all points. I have family with strong left leanings who post the most hate-filled, stereotypical, and often factually inaccurate comments on the one social media platform they know I have. But arguing with them is absolutely futile as no amount of facts would change their mind. Do they ever think to ask MY thoughts on conservatism rather than believing what they hear in their echo chamber? Nope. But on the other side of the aisle, I also have friends/family who are otherwise intelligent people drinking the MAGA Kool-Aid with all objectivity seemingly tossed to the wind. I don't get it. For the record, I voted for Trump and like a lot of what he's done. But he's done or is doing a lot that I don't like, too. It shouldn't be heresy to question these things.

Southern Planter's avatar

Can't say that I have any left leaning family or friends. Thankful for that. All of my disappointing interactions have come from my formerly principled Republican and/or conservative family and friends.

Blair's avatar

Great points Tucker. I have had enough conversations in my real life with my close friends and family that are otherwise intelligent, reasonable, and rational people to know that people's brains won't accept certain facts about this no matter how well reasoned and delicately they are delivered.

My comments on here are delivered in the blunt way I would want to deliver them with the people that I know, but am not enough of an ass to do - so it's mainly venting. I realize that I will change absolutely zero minds with this approach (but no approach would work anyway). It's all in good fun though as I think the people most triggered by my comments enjoy the sport of the blunt debate on here with me (someone they don't know or like) as they are free to be jackasses as well.

There was a book written 70 years ago about a man who marries a woman only to be able to molest her daughter, Lolita. I don’t think Epstein took people to his island for the great fishing. If there was a client list, it was probably destroyed with the tapes to protect the elites in both parties.

Let’s dump everything out. The deaths of the Kennedys, Dr King, George Patton, and what really sunk the Maine in 1898. It will make you very uncomfortable, but the truth will set you free.

Isn't that song the new French national anthem?

Or is it Van Halen's "Hot For Teacher"?

Joe Guerriero's avatar

I’ve been saying this for a while and will keep saying this until there is a national reckoning of some type. A large portion of the left has descended into mental illness. Evil has guided them there. At this point like most insane people they must be isolated and observed. Engagement is pointless.
