Well, if we're really that excited about "firsts"...

If MAD magazine wanted to update the look of Alfred E. Newman, Mayor Pete would be perfect. He already embodies the "What? Me worry?" ethos.

Buttigieg would be out of his depth in a petri dish.

I wish DEI would DIE. It's literally killing people.

It is so obvious that Pete resents his position and has nothing but disdain for the great unwashed of East Palestine. He accepted the position as a consolation prize for being told to clear the deck for Joe Biden by democrat leaders such as James Clyburn in SC. This was supposed to be a cushy, no-show job to keep Pete on the radar for future presidential campaigns. This strategy has instead shown how incompetent he is as a leader. He is not presidential material. He is an utter embarrassment. He is elitist, condescending, incompetent diversity hire. Anyone watching the clips of his visit could see that he had no interest in being there. He was just going through the motions and not even listening to what people were saying. Joe Biden has more self-awareness and charisma than Pete. At least Joe pretends to care.

Another producet of the "Everyone gets a prize" generation...Yet, he served in military intelligence in Afghanistan. Boy, he seems not to have learned many lessons there as much as I appreciate his service.

One more thing the MSM is like this administration check the boxes be the right color and gender and when things go off the rails blame Trump and Republicans don’t do any investigative reporting or ask a hard question of anyone in charge and promote your left wing bias but sooner or later reality hits.

I don’t think the problem is Pothole Pete, or Mayorkas, or any of the other cabinet officials. These names and faces are just convenient for memes. At the end of the day every administration will always fail if they have to spend the first 2 years slowing down the gears from the previous admin, then start to slowly change direction, only to find that they are not allowed to fire any of the employees.

Now, because the government workers are overwhelmingly hard left dems, when the top of the ticket is a Dem then it looks like things are working. When a Repub comes along, the govt workers keep on doing the same crappy job but the top of the ticket looks like failures.

The real problem is the protected union status of the government workers. The law needs to be changed so everyone, from the heads down to the mail room, can be fired “at will”. Accomplishments should be measured. Promotions based upon merit.

Short of changing the laws, I welcome a hard government shutdown. Not a few days of silly handwringing, but a prolonged 5- or 6-month shutdown. This will highlight that we don’t need these workers and will put into focus the backpay rules that always happen.

But there are signs of change in the wind. As more and more states adopt Parental Choice laws, the schools will be forced to heal. It will take at least a decade to see results, but this movement (primarily in conservative states) will have a long-term impact...... and it skirts the interference of the Sec Ed.

Cheers

Shut it down? I think cut it in 1/2.. and you are 100% correct. "Civil Service" the govs version of tenure/unions must go. There is absolutely no way government works as hard as the private sector when they cannot be fired for poor performance. With all due respect to the good, soild government workers out there, very few go into gov to perform, advance and make a future. It's a safe place where you do your job and go home with no fear of losing your job. Not an environment where excellence is bred. .

The Biden people never asked if these people can do the job they only looked at color sex etc. and then when the crap hits the fan it’s blame Trump. These people including the President are incompetent and I don’t see it getting any better.

DEI just makes me angry. Forget about ability to do the work; if you look good to the progressive activists, that’s what really matters. I wonder what the cabinet and advisors make up would be if it mirrored the actual population

A leader doesn’t have to be present when there is a problem. It is a distraction for those involved in the problem. He has to send representatives who have his authority to gather information and coordinate relief from above. They report to him on the problem with there recommendations and he makes the decisions. That is what Moses was told by his father in law. You delegate authority to others but the ultimate responsibility sits in your lap.

The Secretary of Transportation, as any leader, should be feared by people below who don’t do their jobs. No white washing of the problem or finding a scapegoat. Was routine maintenance done on the box cars? Did the train crew do what their training (if they got any) required? Who decided to burn everything in place and why? Who is monitoring the air, water, and ground for contamination?

Funny KJP can state the statistics of the number of LBGTQP in the administration. Oddly, all the other stats are rather elusive.

That's because the numbers are constantly updated in her binder.

Wonder if Biden makes sure his doctors make the DEI checklist first before anything else? The insane desire to judge people by the color of their skin and sexual orientation and not their character or merit will be the downfall of our society. My hope is this Administration proves merit actually matters.

Ironically, the Dems biggest money people (tech, Wall Street and Hollywood) are ruthless when it comes to business (merit) and don’t give a rat’s butt about DEI in real life… These phony virtue signalers are the 21st Century cancer on society.

Everything about this administration and the press is performative and useless. With trust in the media at or near all-time lows and with ratings cratering, their collective March towards total irrelevance save for their little bubble is nearly complete.

Wish there were metrics showing the DNC subservient media is on the outs. It is absurd and maddening that they pick sides, allowing incompetence to fester. Democrats don’t even have to try and make sense. Makes me weary.

In the hive of modern woke Democrat ideology we should accept that any performance meritocracy is a relic of white male patriarchy and white supremacy, and thus to be rejected in assessment for people of marginalized racial, gender or non-cisgender sexual identity… as long as they are left and woke…. and also rejected for anyone that supports the ideology completely. And the radical believers of this woke ideology infest newsrooms that used to challenge Democrat politicians on their lack of real demonstrated performance.

So most Democrats in politics have been weakened in terms of their ability to read the room and perform well. And thus the woke media finds themself a conundrum of greater denial and propping up of a growing inventory of mistakes, gaffs and general demonstrated incompetence. The woke Democrats need the woke media or else the entire thing implodes. It seems to be imploding anyway. Or maybe I am wrong.

Diversity only works when it is a natural byproduct of good hiring practices. If an organization focuses on getting quality people, the team will be strong and diversity will come organically. Forcing it as a goal over abilities has disaterous results, as we are witnessing now.

The painful truth is that if Buttigieg were not gay, he’d still be in South Bend. The President wanted to fill in the DEI boxes with his Cabinet and gave a spectacularly unprepared forty-something a job because his sexual orientation checked a box.

This paragraph pretty much covers it. This is someone bemusing since there has been speculation that he is the one guy that might run against Biden. God I hop he does. It will be so much fun seeing who the press gets behind (and here's a clue - Biden); and it will be at that time that they tear him apart with his handling of all this. And how he was on paternity leave when our supply chain was crippled. Remember how they could not get the containers off of ships in L.A.? To this day, people do not understand what that did to the supply chain. Simple painful truth here: 1). He wasn't there to help move things forward. 2). It did not matter, because he did not have the credentials or understanding to make a difference anyway. The press will just take him apart. I sincerely do hope that he and his partner are good parents. And hope that he gets as far away from elected government as possible. Who would have thought you could sit in a position like that with those credentials. Then again, I live in a state, where the two Senators might (between them) actually have the credentials to be mayor of a small town somewhere. Lord help us..
