California Protects Anyone Attacking Jews

What if I told you that a group of racists targeted primarily non-white Americans in a major city over the weekend, preventing them from attending worship and systemically hunting them street by street? With these basic facts, you would assume this Charollotsville-style attack against a small minority group of Americans would lead every news channel and be ubiquitous across news websites. The incident has been widely ignored because the victims were Jews and the attack happened in California.

Pro-Hamas rioters rallied in front of a Jewish synagogue and physically assaulted congregants as they attempted to go inside. Deployed in riot gear, the police largely stood by doing nothing and refused to let Jewish worshipers inside the front door. As members began to leave out the back, they were verbally and physically assaulted. Some were punched in the face and sprayed with pepper spray while a mob cornered one Jewish woman and beat her on the ground. Multiple congregants who escaped were systematically hunted street by street in the adjacent neighborhood.

LA Mayor Karen Bass issued a statement condemning the event, but conveniently omitted key details at the beginning of the statement. As Adam Rubenstein points out on Twitter, “Reading the first paragraph of this, you wouldn't know: 1) who was attacked; 2) which "house of worship" was targeted; and 3) who did it.”

Can you imagine the headlines and panel discussions if the same thing happened to black congregants at Raphael Warnock’s Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta? Outrage would justifiably be everywhere.

As Americans learn of egregious incidents like this where attackers are protected by the police and/or left un-prosecuted because their victims are really oppressors according to intersectionality, the crisis in institutional trust will only get worse. Americans are watching Merrick Garland and Joe Biden prosecute and jail wheelchair-bound grandmothers who prayed in front of an abortion clinic, while charges against the Columbia rioters have been completely dropped. Alvin Bragg, the same guy who dropped the charges at Columbia, whimsically made up charges to prosecute Donald Trump after repeatedly being urged not to by fellow Democrats.

As mainstream media continues to parrot talking points from the FBI and Homeland Security claiming that right-wing extremism is the greatest threat facing our country, there is quite literally a Charlottesville-style attack happening every week by the left against Jews.
