I so totally agree with this—maybe less tweeting; but, when he does, drill his readers with the message of his desire to keep all Americans safe and get them back to work! Also, drill this message to whomever, whenever and wherever he addresses the nation!
I said earlier that Trump has over-exposed himself, and somebody liked my comment. Many probably agree. The local PBS radio affiliate interviewed Anne Applebaum today about her new article on Conservatives who must rationalize to either stay in President Trump's administration or to support him personally as a candidate or in Congress. She noted that former
SecDef Mattis rationalized for awhile but decided to go public with his frustration this week.
While listening to the interview I began to wonder to what degree our public officials are idolaters and exactly what false gods they may worship. Such might be an interesting dynamic to assess our public life this election year.
I find your column today very informative as always. My issue stems from "third" party type voting. When Mrs. Clinton got the nomination, many Sanders supporters were very unhappy. They may not have voted. We have similar problems with the "never Trump" Republicans. They may have stayed home, but I think more people held their nose and voted for him. As this Presidency has gone on, the "nose holders" and others have decided things are actually getting better. Conservatives need to realize the Sanders folks and others on the Republican side who see Biden as a moderate are foing to "hold their nose" and vote for Biden. It doesn't seem to matter that Biden is a gaffe machine or that he fondles women and girls. They will vote for anyone to get rid of Trump. That's why I believe your message is so important. Trump does need to FOCUS! I'm surprised Mrs. Conway hasn't figured this out.
Like everything else trump says, your messaging would be a lie. He doesn't take care of us. He is the most divisive president in recent history. And to the economy - the federal deficit has on average expanded significantly under Republican presidents, while the fiscal deficit has been cut significantly during the two term presidencies of Clinton and Obama. Bottom line: The economy performs better under Democratic control. And, that should be Biden's messaging.
Good advice. I just hope he doesn't take it. If he does and wins we'll be stuck with 4 more years of a demagogic, rude, self-absorbed, mercantilist, authoritarian leaning, chaotic and exhausting presidency. He's pushed the envelope on the Constitution at every opportunity. I'm tired of it. And I'm not the only one.
Apparently you are only concerned with him keeping us safe from riots and domestic terrorists.. The deal his administration inked with the Taliban is a joke that will ultimately result in Americans being threatened once again by foreign terrorists.
I'm ready to take the judges he's appointed and move on.
I'm not going to vote for Biden. If he wins I won't like what he'll try to do but the survival of our Constitution is more important.
Move on to whom? Biden? Even though you're not voting for him and Biden wins we're still screwed. I'm not a Trumptress, but getting a Dem back in office isn't the answer. I'm not ready, nor will I ever be, to put my country up for sale and weakened like the Democratic party did and will continue to do if they return to power.
The Libertarians will probably win 1% of the vote, if that. They won't be in power. So, yea, it'll be Biden and the Democrats.
The Democrats will weaken us economically, I agree. Trump is weakening us at our cultural and political core. From the former we can recover. It is impossible to predict what four more years of Trump will do to us as a nation. And that it what scares me.
Yes, I've seen that data. "Past performance is no guarantee of future results." As a libertarian, I'm more aligned with the idea of free markets, so I embrace capitalism. The improvement in living standards of the last 300 years is due to capitalism. Democrats can create short-term spikes with their policies. But in the longer term, to the extent they embrace socialism, we all will suffer.
Yes we will never return if Biden is elected. I am 76 years old. But I want my children, grand children and generations to follow to live is a free country and be motivated toward building a successful life.
Erik, Amen, you and i have not agreed on much these last 3 months but you are spot on here, surely with your connections someone can slip this in front of him.
Spot on! I hope Trump gets this message and begins a positive leadership during this time in our lives. You are right...he needs focus on things that matter to us. WE ALL MATTER! Jobs matter, security matters...but we are all sick of the back and forth politics! BRING US BACK MR. PRESIDENT to LIFE, LIBERTY, and the PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS!
I think you missed the point. Everyone is focused on the “church walk”. But the day before everyone claimed the president was hiding in the basement. Twitter went live with how great it was, until CNN changed the narrative. And, had people convinced that the push back on the protesters was violent. Sadly, you bought into it as well.
Erick, since I subscribed last night, this is the first time I have read this message.
Keep this message going and I pray someone puts it in President Trumps ear, both of them!
This needs to be his message. Perfect message! Please keep driving it.

Historically speaking, the economy performs better under Democrats. That Republicans are better for the economy is a myth. Google it.

A great many people agree with you on this. They're tired of it all and don't trust the idea they won't get four more years of nonstop insanity.
Great post! Right on. I hope that someone influential is reading your thoughts here.
The LAW & ORDER message is resonating. An anti-Trump friend posted this yesterday on Facebook:
This same phrase was used as one of the Nixon campaign catch phrases in '68. *DO NOT* underestimate its power.
Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump
LAW & ORDER!
Can he please hire you!!!
Yes! Trump needs a Karl Rove right now and Erick is the guy. (NOT Jared!!)
Good advice. Trump will never take it. He's never had message discipline on anything, which partly speaks to his unfitness.
Bravo!

I actually felt a little relief when I read the first chorus. Well done! Now if only he takes heed
