I don’t know a single person that is watching or talking about the Olympics. The broadcast experience may we’ll be horrible, but it’s super difficult to watch, much less cheer on, athletes that disrespect our country. I know all athletes don’t disrespect but the US Olympic Committee has proven itself feckless. Kudos to others great athletes that compete and respect our flag. Sadly, your colleagues have destroyed the Olympics for many.

I used to watch some of the Olympic games as they came around, but I have not found any interest in recent years to do so. This year, with the woke aspects in full array, I haven't watched any events. I also skipped the MLB All-Star game for the same reason. Will the stupidity ever end?

Those of us who aren't cord cutters and are thus condemned to have to use Comcast Xfinity cable/Internet/VOIP phone understand.

Now, as for Simone Biles: What she's apparently going through is akin to the plight of a golfer suffering from "the yips". While the worst thing for the golfer is that he/she may miss a putt and lose a tournament, a gymnast having the similar issue can end up in a wheelchair for the rest of his/her life - or worse. I wish her all the best going forward, and pray that she can find the peace and serenity she's seeking. And like you, Erick, I wonder what would have been had USA Gymnastics, and all his victims, had never heard the name Larry Nasser.

I was 6th in the Nation of Floor Exercise (non-spring floor days) my junior year, so I worked hard on getting a double back (hardest tumbling trick at the time). It was to hard to land, so I tried Arabian 1 and 3/4 (start backward, turn forward do 1 and 3/4 flip to land on hands and roll through. I competed it twice. The second time there was almost zero seconds between opening and hitting the mat. I narrowlly missed either killing myself or being paralyzed. I never competed it again.

I am guessing, but having competed on trampoline as well - when you get way up in the air and you lose your air sense (knowing where you are in the flip) it is scary as hell. I don't know, but my guess is that she might have an inner ear issue. Your ear is lying to you when you flip and twist - your eyes compensate, but if your inner ear is messed up you can't. SHE MADE the near perfect call by withdrawing.

I DVR the coverage of events I'm interested in, and FF through all the inane, insipid coverage.

There needs to be a significant culling of events. Surfing? Skateboarding? Ping pong? Beach volleyball? NONE of them (along with many others) deserve to be an Olympic event.

She’s a quitter. If she was a star in other sports there would be outrage. Shame on you Eric for buying into the lefts mantra. We as America are finished if this what we are watch growing up. Quit when the going tough. She took a spot from someone. She’s a big baby and a coward who needs to get over herself.

I want to watch water polo, but NBC has made THAT possible. One recorded broadcast had no water polo. Another the last five minutes. I said screw this. I have no desire to watch these games.

For the sports we have been watching like volley ball the commentators talk about the standings and importance of the next game they never actually show the standings. moving on to next rounds is difficult to figure out with only some verbal discussion.

Constantly switching channels to find what to watch is a pain especially when they show contests both live and then repeat them later.

There's a downside to cutting the cord.

Other than the Equestrian events, I don't care to watch at all. "Athletes" have assumed undue importance in the culture...and watching them try to outdo one another in virtue signaling just isn't something I'm interested in.

As always, Erick, people vote with their feet. The television product today sucks, as it always does, for the many reasons given in your column. Add to that the anti-American propaganda that is pounded daily into the COVID fearful public's head and is it any wonder that most people don't give a crap about spending any time or energy watching the Olympics.

I've stopped watching any sports or sporting events. Just too much politics in sports these days and the commentators don't help any! I didn't even know the Olympics were on!

I have had no problem watching it on DISH network.

Not watching for the reasons given. I dropped in and watched 5 minutes of woman's volleyball and about 5 minutes of woman's softball. Quit watching all of the news networks because of propaganda and outright lies from each. Not going to spend my time watching poorly planned events, only to have some commentator talk about some athletes political stand.

Olympic channel & NBCSN are what I'm watching most for it. I'm watching it some, but not a lot. I was at a watering hole and asked for the Olympics on a TV in front of me, the response was, but that's the 2020 Olympics...I hadn't even noticed most if not all digital & hardcopy notes this as the 2020 Olympics - sure I suppose technically it is, but it seems silly.

I'm a bit surprised at all the defenders of Simone. Sports talk essentially lives on tearing athletes apart. Simone should be treated no differently. It is likely she tried to hang on in her sport too long. Her stepping aside probably should have happened months ago, so her timing isn't great, but was likely the right decision for the team.

But folks, she's an elite athlete, taking the hits with the positive press is part of what comes with that.

Has anyone actually seen a medal ceremony? It’s almost like NBC is ashamed of the National Anthem.
