And, Standard Time please! Has no one paid attention to the billions of dollars wasted bc of this silly time change. I think God must have intended us to be on EST bc that’s what the sun does.

Just give me back my standard time year round!

I live in AZ the sun comes up and the sun goes down 365 days only government thinks they can change time if you want equal daylight and darkness move to the equator

I'm a desert rat, born in the southwest and lived most of my life in Arizona, except for 20 years in Georgia. Love GA but the changing time twice a year drove me crazy. Makes absolutely no sense. I'm back home in Arizona, brought my Southern born husband with me. It's so nice to not worry about time change. The dog doesn't get confused about when dinner is, and the biggest problem is the TV and radio changes ... oh and not knowing when the best time is to call family back east - are they two hours ahead or three? The rest of the country just needs to stop all this crazy confusion and enjoy living in Standard Time year-round.

Funny how we react to this stuff. China/TWN have one time zone across 4-5 geographic time zone distances, no time changes. Stretching from Pakistan on the west to a bit east of Korea. We're kinda spoiled even with time changes - mostly a certain time gives you an expected sunrise when going from one side of the country to the other. In China, sunrise in Fuyuan (north of Japan) is about noon in Kashgar (near border of Tajakistan).

India is another "one time zone to rule them all" country from Pakistan to east side of Myanmar...and they've chosen to be +30 minutes from most of the rest of the world's zones to complicate meeting times.

DST is a crime against nature.

Living now in Arizona where the time never changes, only the rest of the world- the clocks stay the same but twice a year the TV and Radio schedule changes. Let me see, does Erick come on the air at 9:00 or 10:00? Believe me, living in Tucson out in the middle of the desert, we want the sun to set during the summer as early as possible. Everyone out here was in favor of the nation settling on either Standard or Daylight time full time until Trump said he was for it, now everyone argues what a great idea it is to switch times twice a year...

I’ve said for years that the best possible compromise would be to split the difference. This fall, every state in the union should just fall back thirty minutes one time, and be done with it.

Roger Beal's avatar

Agreed 100%. Split it and forget it!

My gosh, don't these people have anything else better to do? Great, so let's have Georgia be the only state out of sync with all the other Eastern Seaboard states. Seriously?

Just pick one and leave it there. My daddy had 100,000 hens and they did not change their laying schedule so he kept his watch on standard time. DST is a crock!

Every year someone forgets to change their clocks and finds an empty church parking lot. They missed the Rapture.

Good point that I haven't given much thought to. I've wanted one time with no going forward or back, but always leaned toward more daylight in the evening, but your argument makes sense.

Jane A Thomas's avatar

Can we not just go back to Standard time!?! All this time changing is crazy...and it saves nothing.

The Georgia Senate has more important things to address. The lack of common sense in the Senate shows us that politicians are, in the end, not very bright: putting a state that is at the western edge of the Eastern Time Zone into the Atlantic Time Zone makes no sense. Time zones span a wide area and unless a state is located in the center of that time zone, clock time will always be earlier or later than sun time.

I like to poke fun at you MAGAs for accepting the (false) words and (insane) ideas of your Dear Leader as gospel. Perhaps, however, we should let the Big Guy take care of this one. Let's see what he has to say:

“Daylight Saving Time is inconvenient, and very costly to our Nation.”

-DJT, Dec 2024

“The House and Senate should push hard for more daylight at the end of a day.”

-DJT, April 2025

Whoops

Well when I heard this I was all happy because I hate changing time, period. But I dislike even more the idea of daylight extending long into the end of the day. I hope somebody smart is involved in this decision. I'll just suffer the consequences whatever they are.
