Important: DDR or Detroit Dog Rescue is the first and very successful NO KILL Dog shelter in that city. I support them w a small monthly donation as I do various others. DDR has a team that

Important: DDR or Detroit Dog Rescue is the first and very successful NO KILL Dog shelter in that city. I support them w a small monthly donation as I do various others. DDR has a team that
tracks down strays and rescues dogs chained outside in freezing weather etc. Detroit still has massive economic blight. The Cathy Bissell Foundation is a major donor. They rescue foster and rehome dogs that people said were not adoptable. They get boxes of puppies and dogs and even cats dumped on their doorstep even in subzero temperatures. I live in NC and am shocked at how little Whatley has done here to introduce himself to voters. Roy Cooper is a household name here - he’s been in NC politics for 40 years - but I do believe he is beatable if Whatley would show up and show out. All I can do is SMH at how poorly Republicans are handling 2026.

Indeed, Erick, character does still matter, and it always has. It matters for the future of America. The problem for the Republican Party is that it does not matter to the MAGAs. They either ignore, or perhaps even admire, the dishonesty, the corruption, and the moral and ethical depravity if it comes from their tribe -- this despite many of them being evangelical Christians. They will support the candidate that Trump endorses without question and despite obvious weakness as general election candidates and, therefore, we lose winnable seats in the House and Senate. The MAGAs are to the Republican Party what the Social Democrats are to the Democrat Party -- each composed of angry and impatient radicals unwilling to temper their own versions of populist extremism in favor of the best interests of their parties or their country.
💯- Trump will be sunsetting soon. We conservatives just need to make sure the next nominee isn’t Vance and actually is principled. DeSantis, Rubio, Youngkin or even Kemp would all be great.

I think the problem with the GOP is “promises made and promises kept”. Trump made promises and kept promises. The past (and current) GOP has not. So, maybe you can understand the confusion of voters with “what is character worth?” when too many current GOP representatives “word” can’t be trusted.
And Trump's word can be trusted? Are you living in an alternate universe? Did he promise to start a war of choice without congressional approval? Did he promise to upend the world economy and accelerate inflation with his tariffs? Did he promise to pardon cop beaters and crypto crooks? Did he promise to give Epstein's associates a pass? Did he promise to plaster his name onto a building that is designated as a memorial to JFK? Did he promise to spend billions of taxpayer dollars on a place to dance? Did he promise to nominate incompetent fools to his cabinet? And not last or least, did he promise to use the office of POTUS to make billions for himself and his family?

Before Trump the evangelicals never described the opposition as "evil". By the end of his first term it was common. I was told I was going to hell because I voted for Biden. Last straw. They never described people like McCain as "weak". That was another necessity to continue their worship of Trump.
C. S. Lewis said that the Germans first treated the Jews badly because they hated them. Then they hated them because they had treated them badly. Something like that has happened to the Evangelical movement. They went to great lengths to justify their treatment of children separated at the border. That was a big inflexion point for them.

The media for not reporting about the children at the border. Yet I would think these children were mistreated prior to arriving at the border then they had to attend drag queen shows and pressured into comprehensive sex education and transgenderism. Presented by members of the Democratic Party . Then parents were told they had no say in their children’s choice.

McCain was a war hero. Started out being pretty conservative but as time went on he became less so. Last couple of terms as senator was a waste and he was a worst candidate than Hilary and Kamala when he ran for president.

I am hopeful that like a drug addict we will hit rock bottom in November. I am also hopeful we will be celebrating our sobriety in 2028 as the GOP is forced off their Trump addiction. Oh, those with TDS, and those hoping to sow discord, will scream "THIRD TERM THIRD TERM" but those of us who still posses common sense, and learned the lessons from eight years of BHO the TDS suffers have yet to learn, know he will be gone then.
