Trump-hating Republicans have actually helped Donald Trump, who stands on the cusp of victory thanks, in part, to people like Sarah Longwell, Liz Cheney, the Lincoln Project gang, etc.
By being such cheap dates for Kamala Harris, Harris never had to moderate positions to get them. They hated Trump so much that they were willing to sign on to an out-of-touch, progressive campaign. Instead of trying to persuade people, they insisted on heckling, bullying, and brow-beating people into voting for Harris.
The result is a Harris campaign that made no effort to moderate and a group of former Republicans who, narcissistically, put their trust in themselves and disdain anyone who dares to disagree. They actually believe the United States and its institutions are not as strong as they are and, in so doing, have paved the way for a second Trump term.
They also know it and get enraged when you point it out.
Take a listen.
It continues to astound me that Erich considers what happened on 6 January 2021 as disqualifying for Trump. If there was a video clip of him saying something like go attack Congress it would be playing over and over again by Harris. I would find it disqualifying, but it doesn’t exist. And if one is hanging their hat on the partisan House committee’s investigation in which the Republican Party selected participants were not allowed to be on the committee by Nancy Pelosi, then they should go take a look at the Senate committee’s investigation which was done a year earlier and did not blame Trump for anything. (Yes, Virginia it does exist.) But then again, that wasn’t newsworthy by the elites running the media.
Erick has used the word “broken” and I can’t think of a better term for people who betray every “deeply held principle” they ever claimed to hold because Trump is on the other side.
