Anyone who is surprised that companies like Huawei have these surveillance type "features" built in, needs to have their head examined. Huawei has been the king of intellectual property theft. Over 20 years ago they were robbing CISCO of router and switch technology amongst other things.
I worked for a telecom at the time and we were building a new technology to move voicemail systems to VoIP (New then norm today). Huawei had asked us to demo at a show they were putting on in Shanghai. The extent we went to in order to lock that system down took days and a ridiculous effort.
We know there is Tik Tok type phoning home reporting to the CCP on Huawei cell phones. Those phones are all over Europe and the rest of the world, but are banned in the US. They were pushing hard to get their finger in the 5G pie, but were denied. That they have any switches, cell tower hardware, or towers themselves absolutely blows my mind.
...and I would include all other Chinese companies in that ban. The business development people pushing this nonsense are going to be the end of us all. Just they will have already gotten their money and cashed out.

Another national security threat that will fall victim to "Alert Fatigue," the phenomenon where people become desensitized to safety alerts due to an overwhelming number of false warnings. Nobody has mentioned what our side Us, our NATO allies, our ASEAN allies, the new alliance between Australia, the UK and the US, etc., are doing in the cyber "warfare" area. There was an article in the WSJ awhile back about Chinese People’s Liberation Army members going to school in high tech areas in Texas. The Trump admin eventually closed the Chinese Counsel in Houston because of their spying on technology companies and universities in the Houston area.

I did not listen, but I have known for over 15 years that China has been buying a LOT of land in the US that a lot of it is near our Military bases where they can spy on them. Look at ALL the young Chinese men that have come into the US in these last four years. They are working this land to pretend to be farmers and yet they can spy on our Military as to what they are preparing for. By now, that number of young men has probably gone well passed the number of 100,000 of them in the US.
And our government DOES NOT know what the Chinese are doing on their land. The last I heard was in 2021 that they owned about 385,000 which was also an increase of about 30% from 2020. So how much do they OWN NOW??????????
