Same. All. Sad.

Wow. Nice comments from people. Guess having a different opinion is just as bad here as everywhere else. Certainly as disillusioning as Trump's effort last night.

The first question was Are people better off today the they were four years ago? Harris did not answer that question, she tossed up one of her word salads. Trump should have pointed out her refusal to give a yes or no response, and say The reason she won't answer is because the answer is no, and er repeated cheerleading of "Bidennomics" ties her to that reality. Then he should have shut up. I stoped watching the debate at that point. I will vote for Trump, as the alternative is unacceptable, but I wish he could've more displined!

When rookie Michael Vick burst onto the NFL scene with the Falcons, he did great things because there wasn't a team in the league that could contain him. But by the next season, EVERYONE had him figured out and Vick never returned to his former glory. Trump reminds me of Vick. In 2016, neither his primary opponents nor his presidential rival could contain him.

But they have his number now: Just let him talk and gleefully watch as he digs himself ever deeper into strategic quicksand.

You got it! It is also like the Falcons performance on Sunday. The hype they were “ new and improved” and we’re going to dominate the Steelers, only to show up and lose in an ugly fashion. I think it will take a miracle for Trump to win.

My 86 year old dad has been watching ABC News for literally over 50 years (in Virginia). Dinner, ABC News.

This debate will come up in our next conversation. And pretty much everything he thinks (feels) about Trump was reinforced. He is literally fearful for the country and his children and grandchildren if Trump wins.

Now he is in Assisted Living in UT, so his vote doesn't really matter.

Right on Erick. With these two we are undoubtedly screwed.

Ok, so Kamala is not fit to be President. She is out of her depth and doubles down on failed progressive policies and lies about it to manipulate low information voters.

Trump continues to demonstrate he is not fit, he is an old dog that refuses to learn. He in essence got a mulligan by being allowed to run for a second term after losing what should have been his second term forever denying Biden and probably Harris the presidency.

What Trump does for (to) me is make it impossible to defend why he should be president. Sure, I can say look at Kamala's record. If Obama is a Van Gogh she is a Salvador Dalí version of of a Van Gogh; Trump is an Andy Warhol.

I can't have a serious conversation about why I will vote for Trump.

She is a clown and press is her two con-men tailors.

Trump has proven to be serious man, but can't help but beclown himself.

Of course the ABC moderators were going to be biased against Trump. The debate was three-on-one. Trump should have known that's what it would be. Why is anyone here surprised at this?

As for Springfield, it's true they are eating the ducks and geese in the park. They're not eating the pets..... yet.

Trump won against Biden, not because Trump was so great, but because Biden was just that bad.

I think Kamala won handily last night, not because she was so great, but because Trump was just that bad.

Complaining about the moderators is like a coach complaining about how the refs cost his team the game.

You have to quit yor whinging and admit you never should have put yourself in a position where they could throw the game to the other team.

If GA had ranked choice votng, my ballot would read:

1. The Second Coming of Jesus

2. Extinction Level Event

3. Trump

We're in deep bat guano, folks.

Unfortunately, Trump was being Trump - totally self-absorbed and focusing on past perceived wrongs. While the man had some good policies and we are certainly appreciative of his Supreme Court appointments, I still say he lacks the wisdom and maturity to do the job, whether win the election or run the country.

I still maintain one of several Republicans who ran could have wiped the floor with Harris!

Glad I skipped it.

Where is the real Harris? The one we saw was articulate and didn’t mix up her words.

It is likely that ABC "leaked" the questions to Harris ahead of time.

She had the questions in advance and she memorized her responses and the proper sticks to poke Trump with.

The moderators were awful and Trump was equally awful. His narcissism wouldn’t prevent him from stepping on every land mine they tossed his way. Utterly disappointing!

This was Trump's last chance to salvage my vote, and he failed miserably. I truly believe the man really doesn't want to get elected President again, he just wants to feed his ego while this goes on. Guess I'll write in someone like Ted Nugent this year--at least I know he'd keep the 2nd Amendment in place.

Go ahead and vote your way into socialism. Be prepared to shoot your way out of it, however.

I think that your insight as to what happened last night is right on. (I’m not humping your leg.)

I believe that Trump didn’t do a very good job. Harris had very little substance and Trump kept going back to 2020 instead of giving a picture of what his vision is for the future.

He missed the points and jumped in the rabbit holes.

That being said, I will be voting for him because Harris is unacceptable. Thank goodness the Democrats didn’t put up a more moderate candidate.

Thank you for your time.

Eric, who are the “they” of the GOP? Who decided Trump was the only candidate for the GOP?

I’m not angry at Trump because as you’ve said, he can’t help it. But I’ve been mad at the GOP since, whoever they are decided no one else was viable. They are the enemy in my book because now the democrats, who don’t know how to stop spending money, are going to ruin the world for our kids.

The "they" are those partisans -the Trumpers -who got Trump as the nominee via the primary process. They rejected DeSantis and Haley, who both would've been able to breeze through that debate, wouldn't have been an embarrassment, been able to articulate conservative principles and why those principles are what the country needs.

Wouldn't it have been just perfect to have Haley there - herself a child of Indian immigrants - opposite Harris? She always scored highest in being able to garner support from independents while being a full-throated conservative.

I disagree on who got Trump to be the candidate. It was the establishment republicans who insist on bashing their own side and promise but never deliver. I really wanted DeSantis.
