Rattling off a bunch of MAGA grievances (dubious pardons issued by Biden, for example) and asking why they are not constitutional crises is rhetoric that makes perfect sense to lay people. As a lawyer, however, you know good and well they are not anywhere close to being that. The end effect of misleading lay people in this way will be their inability to recognize a real constitutional crisis if one should ever actually occur.
You also know that IT IS LEGAL for a judge to enjoin Trump from changing a website that Biden’s people set up. Judges issue erroneous and even "absurd on its face" rulings all the time. The remedy is something called an appeal. If the President or his people start deciding for themselves whether an order is sufficiently legal to require their compliance - rather than appealing that order to a higher court - they will be challenging a constitutional principle of judicial review that is absolutely foundational (in the form of Marbury v. Madison).
THAT WOULD BE A CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS. Mere matters of political disagreement are not, and if the mainstream press (as opposed to the conservative press) is equating the two, they should be condemned. So too should you because in diminishing people's ability to distinguish between the two, you are smoothing the path for Trump to take us there.
If ever he were to write this, the Erick Erickson that I used to know would have also made it clear that under our constitutional system, our courts decide what is or is not legal: not the President or anyone else. You're better than this.
Congress appropriates our money to fund the govt (yes even executive) branches eventually. The funding bills are I believe mostly generic, but some do have a more designated line or two for specific objectives. Agencies get money that is broken into sections: employees, operating expenses etc. and sometimes that money can’t be used for anything else but within the usually broad guidelines or regulations each office uses it as see fit. The Executive branch implements and oversees the rest. Have you ever heard of Congress passing super specific bills? No, they leave most to the unelected govt employees who with many career administrators “interpret” what they think is the wanted result. Even without bribery or politics this is not the best method unless you have real oversite or they are just checking that money spent but look no further. Then you get into regulations that the various agencies come up with on their own….Yes we have a big mess because too much was left to the whims of decidedly liberal Govt force and a lazy Congress. Add in the number of duplicative programs set up by each agency, the number of programs that Congress passes for sound bites in election years that never go away and you have mess Musk is finding. For over 10 years USAO (DOJ) received evidence from programs used by FBI, BOP, etc. in order to prosecute the cases but were not able to because they were not allowed on DOJ allowed USAO pc’s or plain wouldn’t work. DOJ wasting money and time because of it, even with the Federal Courts by not coordinating programs that were used constantly. The lack of communication and cooperation has been astounding and wasted millions over the years. The inability of entrenched bureaucrats to listen to those on the front lines or paying attention to changes in technology was staggering. The volume of evidence coming in from just from cell phones and security cameras alone and for years they were still having to use DVD’s to put it on!! So, Musk is desperately needed and it will take years to find it all, update all these depts & agencies and to get people to think about better ways to do a lot of it. Maybe they should push through the intercom’s “This is not money from a govt bank you are spending, this is coming out of the bank of US taxpayers aka your paycheck!”
It's a constitutional crisis if the executive branch ignores the judicial.
I think most serious commentators agree on that - what I've seen is "setting up for" a constitutional crisis. Which of course is rhetoric you're allowed to not like and point out the hypocrisy of.
As for pardons, those are obviously not constitutional crises because, as the President himself agrees, the presidential pardon power is quite broad. That's rhetoric of your own.
And if they want a fight, I’m willing to stand up and say not in my community. The majority have spoken strongly so who do they think they are that their opinion matters more?!
Erick, here’s something else that’s going on: Democrats are suffering from “Normalcy Bias”. For years, if not a few decades, the Left has had this nice little NGO/Govt funding and grifting scheme going on. They have become used to this…. It has become the norm. They thought it was always going to be there. They could never imagine that it would ever change…. They took It for granted. Now, along comes Trump/DOGE to cut it all off. They honestly didn’t see this coming…. Which is a good thing. The Left getting caught with their pants down and unprepared for the MEAT AXE swinging down is the best possible scenario.
It's rather simple. ABC, CBS, MSNBC etc all have to have revenue to produce their shows and make a profit. Revenue from advertisers. Advertisers need listeners to these shows in order to sell their products. MSNBC is telling a certain portion of the American population exactly what they want to hear and keep their listeners/watchers so that more advertisers will pay the networks for commercials. If ratings drop, the networks get louder and crazier to attract more listeners. It is not necessarily on the left. Fox does it too. It's all about the money.
In the list of Biden's Constitutional crises let's not forget threatening to take over the Texas National Guard and use them against the state of Texas.
There were two CCs. The first was not protecting a federal border from a foreign invasion, and the second was suing to prevent a state from protecting it's border from a foreign invasion!
The Constitutional crisis is the progressive Left administrative state has marginalized the Constitution.
For the progressive Left et al who believe the government's purpose is policy and implementation of that policy (without regard to natural rights) the Constitutional crisis is the dismantling of the administrative state.
They have convinced themselves and others there are 5 lights, Trump is telling everyone there are really 4.
Shame on you, Erick.

What’s that Barack Obama once said….. oh yeah…. “I’ve got a pen, and I’ve got a phone!”

Republicans should start saying, "it's not democracy that is in danger, it is bureaucracy that is in danger."
Oh, God make it stop

Well, as genius Maxine Waters said, “we don’t know what they have on us” at which point all Democrats simultaneously 🤦🏼♀️
All of a sudden, now we have a Constitutional crisis? Remember when Obama said the constitution was a good starting point?
It's only a "Constitutional Crisis" when Democrats aren't in charge and they don't like what's going on.

It always is.
The press’ behavior is so tiring. Americans have fatigue. They and their Dem overlords are doomed. Officially doomed.
Literally, an insurrection

Who has a problem with what Elon said?
Hillsdale College should add that clip to their Constitution 101 course, at the quote.
I wonder how many years the new media has been ran by the government. And how soon will
It stop? Which stations will fall?
There IS a constitutional crisis....and those who claim falsely that there is one are causing it?
