The other day I wrote about the “He Gets Us” campaign. It is funded by the Servant Foundation. But I am told there are actually two. I identified the wrong one. It is not tied to the Oklahoma UMC, but to a donor directed foundation in Kansas with the same name. I updated the original piece and wanted to highlight it here too. I regret the error. I’m told it is one prominent evangelical family doing most of the funding as multiple denominations including my own Presbyterian Church in America have declined to participate.
If one rich family God has blessed with large sums wants to waste their money, we should not stand in their way, but it is a ridiculous waste of money that could be better spent.
Second, police in Atlanta have revealed more details about the terrorist they killed. The local media still maintains 26 year old Manuel Teran was an activist.
Teran used a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm to shot at police. Forensics confirmed the bullet that hit the police officer can from Teran’s gun recovered at the scene. ANTIFA protestors now claim that because the people had no body camera footage, the police cannot be believed and might have set the whole thing up.
Thankfully, no police were harmed in ANTIFA’s self-declared “night of rage” called in response to the shooting on Wednesday. However, they now claim that the shooting will draw more terrorists into Atlanta and the only way to stop it is to call off the project. Instead, the project should go forward as quickly as possible.
The GBI on Instagram makes no mention of anything regarding this. Weird.
Thank you for updating us. I kinda hate Twitter, so....
If one rich family devoted to prayer and God believes they heard from the Lord to fund and operate “He Gets Us” campaign, then they are being obedient to God’s will. Some Christians do not hold that God speaks to us individually. I believe the Bible explicitly informs us He does and will always do so to “ears that hear.” Those who hear from God should seek Biblical consensus and counsel, but don’t require some kind of vote to do what they’re asked by the Lord. So the wise might say “this is a waste of money” but God’s work confounds the wise. I’m glad “He Gets Us” is running and I’m glad some Christians have ears to hear.
