David Perdue Internal Polling to Current Q Poll Shows An 11 Point Increase in Brian Kemp's Polling And 10 Point Decrease For Perdue.
No one on the ground in Georgia really can offer a rationale for David Perdue running for Governor. The former Senator who lost to a no-man Han Solo wannabe named Jon Ossoff had previously and repeatedly stood behind Brian Kemp. Now, suddenly, he is running for Governor as Donald Trump’s boy. He claims only he can bring unity to the GOP in Georgia, but he is doing so by dividing the GOP. A comparison between his internal polling and new public polling shows the only person Perdue is helping is Stacey Abrams.
Consider the data from Perdue himself. When he launched his campaign, Perdue claimed his internal polling showed him with a 56% to 34% lead over Brian Kemp. Adding in other GOP candidates, it was a 46% to 32% edge over Kemp.
Now, Perdue is running misleading Instagram memes suggesting his campaign has real momentum, but the actual truth of the polling is a disaster for him and epic for Abrams.
In the Instagram meme, Perdue takes a Fox 5 poll that showed him at 22% and compares it to the latest Quinnipiac poll of Georgia that has Perdue at 35%. But that 22% was if people did not know Trump backed Perdue. The same poll shows that if people knew about Trump’s support of Perdue, it would be a 34% tie between the candidates. The latest Q poll shows Perdue at 36% and Kemp at 43% with Vernon Jones at 10% and other candidates less than that.
Perdue Internal Polling to the Q Poll Shows an 11 point Shift to Brian Kemp
In other words, based on the full Fox 5 poll, Perdue has gone up two points and Kemp has gone up 9%. But, based on Perdue’s own internal polling, Perdue has fallen 10% and Kemp has increased 11%. Again, that is based on Perdue’s much-heralded internal polling justifying his entry into the race.
One could say it is unfair to compare Perdue’s internal polling to the Q poll, but Perdue himself is comparing one media poll to another where the underlying questions are not the same.
But the latest Q poll is more damning for Perdue.
According to that poll, he has managed to sow discord in the GOP. He’s keeping Kemp’s favorables down with Republican voters by continuing to push the stolen election claims against Kemp. More disturbing, according to the Q poll that Perdue is touting to show his momentum, he would only tie the race with Stacey Abrams.
The polling is consistent that only Brian Kemp can beat Abrams. In a head to head race, Kemp does better in the current Q poll than he did in the actual 2018 election, besting Abrams by 2 points, instead of 1.4 points. Perdue would only tie Abrams 48-48.
If Perdue continues to sow divisions in the ranks of the GOP, he is going to cost Georgia and get Abrams into office. He has offered no rationale for his race other than humping the leg of the former president.
Perdue does not beat Stacey Abrams in the poll he is currently touting. Perdue, in the real world at the real ballot box, lost to Jon Ossoff. Kemp already beat Abrams once and the polling shows him doing it again.
The only way for Perdue to break through is further division and more attacks at a time the GOP in Georgia needs unity to beat a hungry Democrat machine.
I had a lot of respect for Senator Perdue. For Puppet Perdue- not so much... Again, it needs to be asked: 1) If someone couldn't beat Jon Ossoff, why do they think they can beat Stacey Abrams? and 2) What exactly has Brian Kemp done that warrants him not receiving a 2nd term?
I supported Perdue when he ran for the Senate, and I think he did a good job representing GA while in Washington. This run for governor makes no sense. His bid will create problems within the GA GOP. Trump is using Perdue to continue to wage war with those who didn't buy the allegations he made about a stolen election. Whether someone believes the presidential election was fair or not, the election is over, and we must deal with coming elections. And we don't need Abrams as our next governor!
