Jamie Dutton (Yellowstone) on what he really wants when running for Montana AG: "Power."

I think Georgia voters are smart enough to see that Perdue's a powermonger, plain and simple. And somebody else in this string has already done the math on Trump: He's still grinding axes over the "stolen" election, and Kemp was not one of the faithful. But Trump gets revenge on Kemp at the expense of Georgia? I don't see the majority falling for that.

Is it possible the GA GOP learned nothing...nothing from the senate race? I thought Collins running was idiotic, but apparently neither Collins nor the GA GOP did. Do egos really win out in these decisions? If so, they deserve to lose and we deserve what we get for letting those clown run the show.

Surely the Republican powers-that-be have the same information you've provided, Erick. That said, are they willing to give Ms. Abrams the governorship? What is their thinking on this apparently idiotic strategy of dividing the GOP when there's no primary to cull this unruly herd?

This is too typical for the GOP....Divide, and conquer (thyself). Similar situation in TX. Abbott is a good Gov. But the more "purist" Conservative, Lt Col Allen West, wants to take him on in Primary. BAD idea. Just causing more division and wasted resources that are vitally needed for Nov. And Republicans need to always keep in mind--GOP may have million$, but the Dem's have billion$ to spend (with their many billionaire$).

One point not covered much: Kemp was not the choice for the state "Republican Establishment" in 2018- his message resonated with the rank and file far more than people like Chuck Cagle or David Ralston. Now the "party leaders" want to back Puppet Perdue to show their allegiance to Trump. I wonder if these people would rather see Abrams as governor than have the upstart Kemp win reelection so they could continue their grip on the state GOP.

IMO you might very well be right.

I will never forget Perdue’s effort to get Abrams into the Governor’s office. Kemp has done an excellent job as Governor. Unlike Perdue’s cousin Sonny, he is also not a grifter…. Only the die hard Dems and self flagellating progressives will support Abrams. I’ve lived in GA for years and Kemp has been just about the best Gov to date in my opinion - responsive, responsible, has integrity and not afraid to do the right thing.

America will be better off with the narcissistic and boorish Trump retiring from the scene.

Erick, please address the elephant in the room. You keep talking, almost incessantly, about how nobody can explain why David Purdue is running against Brian Kemp. I have an explanation. Perhaps a large segment of the GA GOP and the GOP voting base in Georgia believes Brian Kemp and Brad Raffensperger screwed the pooch when they entered into the ill-advised consent decree with Stacey Abrams prior to the 2020 election, opening the door for, among other things, ballot harvesting, especially in Metro Atlanta voting districts. That issue has been conveniently swept under the rug, but it has yet to be fully vetted (I'm not holding my breath). Additionally, Kemp, despite warnings from other Republican governors, authorized the state's purchase of the Dominion voting machines, and those machines lack a log tracking / monitoring, reporting mechanism, again opening the door for, at a minimum, a loss of confidence in the election results.

That's not a conspiracy theory, it's a fact, and one I will carry with me when I go to pull the lever on May 24, 2022 for "not Brian Kemp".

Please read the article in the AJC (updated in December) about the alleged “consent decree” to learn the facts. First of all, there was no consent decree; instead there was a settlement in the lawsuit that the Democratic Party brought against the Secretary of State. Second, neither Brian Kemp nor Stacey Abrams was part of this lawsuit or the settlement. The AJC article gives details about this settlement that have been misconstrued by Trump and his followers. Additionally, while Trump and his sycophants have made charges about Dominion voting machines, the charges have never been verified.

Ok, so the document was entitled a settlement agreement, not a consent decree, and indeed the Secretary of State is the official involved in election matters, but Kemp stood by and did nothing / said nothing. Same effect. As far as the Dominion machines are concerned, it was shown in the Arizona forensic audit that the Dominion machine logs had been wiped clean. That shouldn't be possible, but it happened. Answer me this. If everything was on the up-and-up in the 2020 election, then why are so many Republican state houses working so hard to make future elections more secure?

The same reasons that so many corporations this country push for more diversity. They are scared to death of be accused of of not being diverse, even if they are. The states are doing the same thing. They must prove themselves by "making changes". Remember, Trump actually did support ballot boxes to help consolidate the absentees. Georgia had to clean that up somewhat. Also, the "consent decree" was because a rule was put into place by the then SOS Brian Kemp for address & DOB that wasn't actually law passed by the State Assembly. I applaud the effort,, but it wasn't a law. The lawsuit didn't result in a deal Kemp made, he was told how it was going to be. Bad info from the Trump team. Also, Kemp has no authority over the elections. Again, bad info from the Trump team. Printed ballots that each voter had the ability to read before submitting was verified during recounts. People want to hand their hats on this mess Trump pushed. We can see how much that got us in the runoff. I voted Trump and I would do it again if DeSantus doesn't, but he needs to stay out of GA. He screwed us much more that Kemp. Kemp's been a great Governor.

By the way, keep on eye on what's happening in Wisconsin, plus in Georgia / Fulton County with respect to the 140,000 suspect ballots. The reveal is going to come as a huge embarrassment to the state and will cost Brian Kemp, Brad Raffensperger and many of the inept members of the Georgia legislature their jobs. Oh, and Stacey Abrams, one of the principal architects of the steal in Georgia, bye-bye Stacey. Your political future is over.

Given the number of e-mails he must be desperate - I don't even live in GA, haven't given a dime to ANY candidate since 2020. Trump can ONLY be a spoiler if he runs, guaranteeing 4 more years of a Dem president

This whole sad saga should finally show people who "The Real" Donald Trump is. Not only is he a liar, a fraud and a loser (to Sleepy Joe no less!) but the only person who could save the Dems from what should be a disaster in '22, and not only in GA.

I supported Perdue when he ran for the Senate, and I think he did a good job representing GA while in Washington. This run for governor makes no sense. His bid will create problems within the GA GOP. Trump is using Perdue to continue to wage war with those who didn't buy the allegations he made about a stolen election. Whether someone believes the presidential election was fair or not, the election is over, and we must deal with coming elections. And we don't need Abrams as our next governor!

Thanks David for letting Trump stroke your ego by being his meat puppet.

Oh, Donald, you want to be the lamest duck President in '24? After you and David give GA to Stacey Abrams?

Ah, I got it, ya'll are doubling down on any "Republican" is better than any Democrat. How'd that work out for you David?

David, so, you were Governor in 2020, what would you have done? Convene a special session of the legislature? If so you apparently have not read the GA State constitution.

Fools all, they.

I had a lot of respect for Senator Perdue. For Puppet Perdue- not so much... Again, it needs to be asked: 1) If someone couldn't beat Jon Ossoff, why do they think they can beat Stacey Abrams? and 2) What exactly has Brian Kemp done that warrants him not receiving a 2nd term?
