Decades ago, a much younger Steve Martin did a SNL skit called, Yoric: Medieval Barber.' In that day, barbers were doctors, too.

His treatment for any condition was blood-letting to help get the bad stuff out of the body.

After one patient bled to death, Yoric starting wondering, 'Maybe there's a better way to do this. Research, testing, medicines, more....' and continued for a moment or two. He ended his musing with, 'Nah' and then went back to business as usual.

I think that the Legacy Media will likely do the same thing... go back to business as usual.

Update: I found the video. The skit was 'Theodoric of York: Medieval Barber" If anyone's interested.

Dear Democrats: If you plan to regain even a smidge of credibility, you must acknowledge that while you shouted about Trumpian threats to "muh democracy", you were appointing a new POTUS and VEEP candidates in a back room with zero input from your voting base of loyal party members. Your understanding of democracy - even though our nation is not organized as such - is lacking.

They did that and yelled at people for not accepting it and are crying and angry people didn’t vote for it. lol.

Trump was already president for 4 years and no concentration camps went up, gay marriage stayed legal, blacks were not re-enslaved, women weren’t turned into Handmaids, there was no Russian invasion of Ukraine, and there was no random war in the Middle East. The American Left gets off on working themselves into a crying fit, coming up with increasingly comically evil scenarios involving Trump. Watching this level of hysteria has been downright hilarious.

I’m a republican. And a Christian. I’m also sickened by my fellow gop’ers singing that hymn in praise of the election. How gross. How un-humble.

Maybe y’all forgot when Trump said he had nothing to repent of or be forgiven for, but Pepperidge Farm and I remember.

Maybe y’all forgot when Trump paid $130k to a porn star who broke her NDA just so she could tell us about POTUS’ mushroom-shaped appendage, but Pepperidge Farm and I remember.

Maybe y’all forgot when Trump posed for a pic with Jerry Falwell Jr and Becki Falwell with a Playboy cover in the background (all that was missing was their pool boy), but Pepperidge Farm and I remember.

How Great Thou Art? Y’all “The Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost caught the last train for the coast” a while ago. That’s the song that actually needs to be sung, if y’all had an ounce of integrity left in you. But yay for “American Christianity”! An oxymoron if there ever was one.

Is this posted as a disclaimer for your Kam vote? When David committed adultery and even had her spouse taken out, did GOD not allow David to carry out his missions? Nope. He allowed.

I would allege that JFK and MLK, Jr were allegedly 2 of the country's biggest ho dogs. Yet what esteme were and are they held in.?

Christ came not to save the good guy but the repentant sinner. So put DT's comment in context. Did he say he had nothing to repent of to man, and if so let him answer to God personally for repentance or non repentance there to. The country did not elect a pastor, or pope or a priest, or a whatever. The Country elected a POTUS and contrary to your hatred of DT, he was the man. God had a reason for a muslim to be elected (I can fill in that gap for you if necessary) and he has a reason for DT to be elected. So you and Pepperidge Farms can accept or reject DT as you choose. It will be 6 of one and one half dozen of the other. God has a purpose for all things. So you can judge, and I will be a fruit inspector. Selah

I don't have much confidence that they will learn. Joe Scarborough was truly dumbfounded on air when he was told that butter costs $3. Even more so when Mika told him that it was actually $7.

KJP got snippy with Jacqui Heinrich because she asked how the President squared his message of doom pre-election with his current message that we'll be okay. Then she had a convenient memory lapse and accused Heinrich of twisting her words, and stormed off the podium. I will not miss her when she leaves and naturally joins MSNBC where she will call Trump a fascist on a daily basis.

Sunny Hostin again dismissed Griffin who was trying to make a reasonable assessment.

You'd think they would be grateful for having their villain back for the next four years.

I checked in my local supermarket for butter. Four bars of the house brand was $7. Canned tomatoes in the large can go on sale next week for$1.25 each. Pre Covid they were .88 each on sale.

Erick this was an excellent worded article and I AGREE with the full contents as you have written. NOW, I hope those former "top aides of Mr. Trump's 1st administration" learned the fact that they too the wrong approach to call their former BOSS names BECAUSE no doubt on the next journey of running for office they will be the FIRST to throw their hat in the ring AND I FULLY BELIEVED THEY WILL BE REJECTED. It appears to me, that President-Elect Donald J Trump is a different man NOW than he was in during his first administration. Therefore, his results and accomplishments will be GREATER than during his 1st term in office.

J. B. Phillips translated the second half of 1 Corinthians 2:16 as: "Incredible as it may sound, we who are spiritual have the very thoughts of Christ!" Were this not in the Bible, this would be the height of arrogance; but because it is in the Bible, it is indisputable truth. Erick Erickson has proven this incredible statement in his post of November 8, 2024.

Now is the time for true Christians to think and act like Jesus Christ. It is not a time to gloat over our side beating their side; rather, it is a time for true Christians to love their God by loving their neighbor - even the progressive neighbor who cherishes the secular worldview. It is not a time to idolize a fallible man named Donald Trump; rather, it is a time to worship the humble man named Jesus the Christ. It is every bit as much a time to pray for Donald Trump after his election as it was to pray beforehand that he would be elected.

God knows the president elect's heart. I pray that God will give him the same heart that He once gave the shepherd boy whom He elevated to be the king of the world power.

Hi Erick, great article but, didn't enjoy being called an "idiot" for having a hard time understanding how roughly 11 million less people voted for Kackles then voted for barely there Joe.

Apologies if you've explained this already and I missed it but...how?

He did explain the vote totals aren’t final yet, especially the western states. 2024 totals still rising.

"Do not immanentize the eschaton" - don't try to build heaven on earth - was the phrase William F. Buckley popularized in the 1960's to counter the progressive belief that government beneficence would usher in a new age of peace and prosperity for all. Sixty years on the socialist dream is stronger than ever in a radicalized Democratic Party that is determined to force the kingdom of its god upon us. Buckley was a true realist who understood that the primary duty of government is to protect the innocent and punish the evil doer. And that our duty as citizens is to give government its due, but our greater duty is to God. I'm not sure what Buckley would think of Trump, but when I saw so many people giving God the glory for Trump's smashing win, a thought flashed in my mind that Buckley must be smiling down from the true Kingdom.

We’ll let’s see if congress can stop themselves from building more federal buildings named after them and any other pork that can be hidden in a budget that is what will be the biggest obstacle that this new administration will come up against plus the penchant for politician’s to buy votes with tax payer money and then telling there constituency it didn’t cost a thing it’s free that’s going to be the hard part. Reign in the budget get people back to work free up the economy so people have more cash in there pocket then we will know how the mid terms will go.

I am not sure these people can correct, especially the younger ones. They have been marinating in the kind of thoughts they espouse since they were children so it’s going to take a mammoth self-reflection, one that most are not capable of. If you want a big smack in the face, all you have to do is look at the data. Trump carried Dearborn, MI (a majority Muslim city), got almost 50% of Hispanics, a large percentage of black men, compared to previous elections. Lost New York by 10 points and New Jersey by only 5. The primary concerns of voters were the economy and immigration, not abortion. If you start there, maybe you can start thinking about why this happened. I’m not going to hold my breath.

After reading the last part of Erick's piece, I looked at News Nation, of which I'd never heard. It does appear to be a breath of fresh (unbiased) air; I recommend it, as well as 1440. As Sgt. Friday would say, "Just the facts, ma'm."

Good morning Erick. You calling me, and it is probably only ME, an "idiot" (a better choice of word would be much appreciated), is the same as President Biden calling me "garbage" or Kamala calling Trump a "fascist". "Come on man."

My 1 cent, I believe that using idiot to describe just one thing or belief is pretty normal, and is the best and mildest one word description I can think of and he calls 2020 stolen believers idiots as well. People do idiotic things all they time or things others see as idiotic. That doesn't mean they are always idiotic on everything. Calling people garbage now is personal and very derogatory as well as offensive. You are describing the entire person not an idea, action, or belief at the time.

What a great piece. Unfortunately, I don't think the Left is either going to read it or act on it, but it is very good advice. The propaganda media and tech giants have done a great job chilling free speech in this country. You can't express a dissenting opinion without thinking in the back of your mind at what cost is your expression. It shouldn't be that way, but the Left has made it so. I lament their inability to self-reflect and identify what actual intolerant fascism looks like.

Excellent write up. I completely agree with your assessment of what Dems need to learn from this but the Republicans need to keep their side in check too. Extremism on either side is a losing proposition and this election made it clear that no matter how many elite celebrities back you, how many free concerts you deliver and one big final warning from Oprah, you cannot force people to change their convictions. London Breed’s loss was the exclamation point. If San Francisco is fed up the tide has turned. Sanity has won. I hope the Republicans don’t go insane. By the way, when is Bruce Springsteen departing and who gets to take his spot that wants to live in the USA?
