Yes, Eric this is one of your better columns -- particularly as I listened to Rush Limbaugh this afternoon, and he got it wrong. And truly, if God did not help me hold my tongue, I would be more like Rush or the preachers who have continued to hold services during the corona virus plague. I'm 68 years old, and I've never seen anything like this in the USA! But God's Providence is greater than our experience, or even than our imaginations. Rush kept saying this afternoon that he is "an optimist." Sadly, many who face Christ with optimism at the Last Day will find that their hopes rest on a foundation of sand (Matthew 7: 21-29).
Erick, thank you so much for all your hard work in keeping us well fed with information and scripture. I'm stationed overseas right now, and while I'm pretty sceptical of most other sources I know I can count on you to shoot straight with us. Once this is all over be sure to get your vacation in with the family. God bless and keep fighting the good fight!
I would love to believe that all this isolation is really helping but we will never know since "what ifs" can never be proven or disproven. As for expert on this virus: I have STOPPED watching everything about this. I read you Erick cuz I believe you are a voice of sanity but sometimes I wonder if the experts you listen to are leading us astray too. I don't think anyone has a handle on this and they don't want to let the people know that "they don't know" so everyone is fearful cuz so are the experts!!!! All I see is folks running scared and so much misinformation that there's NO ONE to believe! I look toward God and only He will rescue us from this when he sees more of his children turning toward Him in repentance since this is the time of Lent!
How much of this is coming from fear, do you think? I keep thinking of Pestilence, who is sometimes one of the Four Horsemen. Fear of invisible death. We can only control our behavior, and maybe that of our family, and hope that's enough.
I've always felt sorry for the Israelites. Yes, they were disobedient and cranky and whiny and they saw miracles and complained once the wonder wore off and they gave Moses an awful time...but they must have been so afraid, too. Or I'm projecting, who knows.
Thank you for the links, by the way. Some fine graphics there, easy to understand.
Erick, You are exactly right on the effects of mitigation steps, as Dr. Fauci and Dr. Brix emphasized in yesterdays press briefing. You are exactly right that the Corona virus is more deadly than the flu because it spreads more easily/quickly and reports I have seen state that a typical ER stay is much longer than the flu (and can be weeks vs days). The best way to minimize deaths (and healthcare costs) and to get the economy going as quickly as possible is to follow the social distancing and quarantine recommendation of the Corona Virus Task Force. Some/many people may reject that truth, just as they rejected Jesus (John 14:6). But keep on telling people what the truth is.
