It has been said many times, you simply can not fix stupid. And unfortunately, too many people in positions of power or authority are not qualified or have the skills to do the job. Also, way too many have not earned the right to walk the earth. Liberalism is a debilitating mental disorder.

There's nothing wrong with liberalism, the problem is progressivism. And the nationalism of the far right. And stupid doesn't exist solely on the left, there are still millions of people on the right that believe the 2020 election was stolen.

A pigeon is a rat with wings, well not really but we all know what that means.

If you are trying to argue that Democrats in general are this....

1. willingness to respect or accept behaviour or opinions different from one's own; openness to new ideas.

2. a political and social philosophy that promotes individual rights, civil liberties, democracy, and free enterprise

... and not progressive, then as Ronald Reagan said, "[You] didn't leave the Democratic Party, the party left [you]."

If you are trying to argue classical "liberalism", then as Rush Limbaugh said, just stop, no one knows what your talking about and you sound stupid.

Progressive = Liberalism and there is no safe amount of it.

Modern liberalism in the United States combines ideas of civil liberty and equality with support for social justice and a well-regulated mixed economy, uses corporations to further ESG and DEI, opposes cuts to the social safety net, and supports a role for government in reducing inequality, increasing diversity through affirmative action, providing education, ensuring access to healthcare, regulating economic activity, and protecting the natural environment.

While the majority of the US is more socially liberal than the conservative core of the Republican party, they understand it's the economy, stupid.

The above translates into destructive economic policies that literally kill.

Wow, so much wrong in one post. I hope you don't think your single post is going to change my views after 4 years in college studying political science.

Yes, because being educated on something is funny.

Attitudes like yours are why so many people perceive Christians as uneducated and anti-intellectual.

Then there is Democrat minority leader in the house who believes the election was stolen.

You are just proving my point, stupid exists across the spectrum.

There are still millions of people of the left that still think the 2016 elections was stolen. One of them is the House minority speaker.

And they think Gore won.

Absolutely. But I am not talking about elected official as much as I am talking about voters. And there are tens of millions of gullible Americans that believe the lies they are fed.

And I can post this...

As of last fall, almost 70% of Republicans still believe Biden did not legitimately win the 2020 election. All you are doing is helping make my point.

But unlike you, that only has the courage to criticize the other side and call them silly names, I save my strongest criticism for my side because I have higher expectations of my own side. I find it very strange that you have higher expectations of the other side than you do of your own side. You are essentially conceding the political fight at that point.

And the Twitter Files back Republican opinions on election interference... and ironically destroy Democrat opinions on it.

I have higher expectations for the side that is in power and controls most of the levers and switches of society.

I have higher expectations for the side that weaponizes government and the media to destroy political opponents with great lies... especially when that side is guilty of the same or worse.

It seems that since Obama (a bit since Clinton), the Democrats in office are operating to advance their politics rather than focusing on good governance for the people.

At the heart of this are two broken institutions. The education system and our media... specifically our news media. Because, without those two systems being broken the voters would be demanding better governance. But because the education system indoctrinates sleep-walking non-critical thinking activist clones, and the core of the media and big tech where voters get their news performs as a propaganda arm of the Democrat party, the Democrat get away with exploiting their office positions as a perpetual political campaign position (leveraging their screen time for name recognition... and appealing to their base) ...instead of the general voter interests and needs.

The good news is that this is making the individual Democrat politicians and candidates weak... they don't get challenged. The performance bar is set so low that Nancy Pelosi can twerk it. Democrats like Pete think he can get away with doing nothing. Maybe he can. Maybe the voters don't care. I think they do care... and they see Pete as almost completely useless.

Meanwhile on the right, Republicans in the house felt it was important that we introduce legislation naming the AR-15 the national gun. That's the kind of heavy hitting policy agenda we can all expect on the right.

Expand full comment

It is symbolic but most lefties and Dems don't have a clue what an AR-15 is and why it isn't what they claim it is. Dems use it for their own symbolism. So it is just fair politics.

So you bitch about Democrats not focusing on governance and then make excuses for Republicans making symbolic gestures? Sounds right

The entire Democrat play is symbolic. I am good with the GOP doing one every now and then.
