Thank you, Erick. Grandfathers matter, too. My father died when I was 5 and I was blessed with two loving grandfathers. I had some pretty terrific uncles, too.
Happy Father’s Day! Buffalo Trace has started a program pairing soon to be and new fathers with experienced fathers to teach them how to be great fathers. Makes that bourbon even better
The late, great Joseph Campbell commented that all successful cultures he studied had a common element of progressed human development from mother's-child, father's-child and adult.
The concept was that the child needed the early nurturing of the mother, but then needed the tough love of the father than helped launch them to functioning independence. Missing either of the those two things resulted in odds of behavior dysfunction as adults... and a resulting high risk that the tribe would not last.
My sense for our western societal decline is that as mothers have dominated the household and society, they have diminished the role of the father, and hence removed the needed step in developing well-functioning adults from the children. And the black community is even more evidence of this outcome with a higher percentage of single-mother families and their children behaving badly as adults.
Yes fathers are important. I would say they are essential.
Thank you for writing this Erick. This is SUCH an important message, especially in our world that is SO effected by the lack of present, active fathers in the home! I'm the very blessed father of two grown and married daughters and now, by God's grace of 10 grandchildren! I am involved in my grandchildrens' lives and I VERY MUCH see the impact on them! Grateful and blessed! Just heard an amazing message this morning (06-18-2023) from Fairhaven church, based on Psalm 127 about fathers. What an AMAZING message! It can be found on You Tube by searching for 'Fairhaven church'. Blessings especially to all you fathers out there!

You are SO right on again Erick. I wish the fathers of this generation would read and understand what you have to say.
Blessings
Happy Father’s Day to you. God as a father is our role model. Keep reminding everyone.

Fathers Matter . Every father should read Psalms 128. Here is the first verse
Psalm 128:1

A Song of Ascents.
[1] Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD,
who walks in his ways!
