Making sure the onions are browned, that's the key.

Well, I tried and goofed, onions were too big and I was so intent on browning the onions good enough and ended up burning them. The flavor was still good despite the burnt after taste. I will be trying this again! I WILL succeed! It WILL be great! I am determined!

Tried it yesterday. Very good. I actually added beef along with chicken stock and mixed with drippings. Actually strained out the onions to thin it out further.

Worked well very tasty with the fried turkey

My gravy turned out perfect.

Looks like the terrorist attack at the Canada/New York border today only produced dead meat inside the car.

Thank you so much! I'm a southerner who can't ever seem to nail gravy, so this is definitely a must-try! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours...

I’m trying it for my first time. Can it be made the day prior & reheated prior to the Thanksgiving meal?

Aside from the fact that this makes a great gravy, it is also adaptable to make a wide variety of gravies. I now use it to make chicken gravy, beef and mushroom gravy. You should tell people that it works for other types too.

Another PSA. Time to thank you for this space and your persistence to inform.

This is an excellent gravy, but even more kudos for your gumbo recipe. It got my family through a bad bout of illness back in 2020. I'd made a giant pot right before, and we basically lived on it for a few days.
