In these days of early voting "peaking too soon" is the new "peaking on Election Day"

You can tell Harris has never had to work hard for a job not in her liberal CA.

One more comment, I voted for trump in every election. I do not expect to elect a saint. No politician would meet that test.

Expand full comment

Yes, but few American politicians meet the test for being a facsist.

Eric, I am so tired of the Democrats and the Left Progressives calling Trump and most Republicans Fascist. I wish there was some way to provide a response to these uneducated or willing idiots a lesson in history and political/social/economic forms of government. Fascism is a Leftist form of government. It is of one the forms of socialism, a brother to Nazism and Communism. There must be some way to turn the narrative around and point back to the Left. I don't expect that the Left will stop using the term Fascist. What I hope is the general public will have a better understanding of the true meaning of

Fascist and how it is a Leftist ideology. If the general public can get just a little better understanding of the true meaning of Fascism it would diminish the power of the Left's allegations. No one seams willing to take on this task.

Its not just "Democrats and the Left Progressives" calling Trump a fascist.

It's Trump's former top general. It's his longest serving Chief of Staff, both of them four-star generals whose devotion and love of country are absolutely indisputable.

It's people who having worked directly with him, know his character better than you or I ever could.

Expand full comment

Right. Because people who get fired never speak ill (or lie) about their former boss.

If you take out the mischaracterization as "far-right," the definition of "fascism" perfectly fits everything that the Democrats have been aligned with. Here's the definition: "Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/ FASH-iz-əm) is a far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology and movement, characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived good of the nation or race, and strong regimentation of society and the economy."

"AUTHORITARIAN," "CENTRALIZED AUTOCRACY" - Trump didn't do a power-grab during COVID (like Gavin Newsom or Gretchen Whitmer). He allowed the States to determine their own path forward, which infuriated the Left. Contrary to what Obama's buddy, Rahm Emanuel, recommended, Trump DID "let a crisis go to waste."

"MILITARISM" - Trump didn't call out the national troops to suppress race riots in the summer of 2020; nor did he call out the military to ensure that January 6th was a successful overthrow of Congress.

"FORCIBLE SUPPRESSION OF THE OPPOSITION" - Trump didn't use Federal prosecutors to go after Hillary Clinton; nor did he silence Pravda -- I mean, the media -- while they were spreading lies about "Russia Collusion" (And yet, the Media was a willing collaborator with the Dems in quashing stories about Hunter Biden's laptop and his dealings with foreign entities) But golly, the Left has really pulled out all the stops to prosecute Trump these last several years, haven't they? Colorado did everything it could to keep him off the ticket.

"BELIEF IN A NATIONAL SOCIAL HIERARCHY" - that's what DEI is supposed to rectify, according to the Dems. Libs believe a (racist, sexist, homophobic) national social hierarchy exists. Conservatives don't.

"SUBORDINATION OF INDIVIDUAL INTERESTS FOR THE PERCEIVED GOOD OF THE NATION OR RACE" - Again, this is a Liberal stance. Libs want to confiscate our guns, our money (who approved the addition of 87,000 new IRS workers?), our gas stoves, our gas cars, and our plastic straws. Next?

"STRONG REGIMENTATION OF SOCIETY AND THE ECONOMY" - DEI, "hate crimes," and "stopping price-gouging by grocery stores" are all Lib policies, not Trump's.

EVERYTHING in that definition fits the Liberals in this country. It's another example of Orwellian Newspeak meant to confuse the unthinking public and get them to goosestep alongside the other useful idiots that keep them in power.

Though there is little here that I think accurate, I will only respond to a few points.

Yes, someone who was fired may lie on his former boss. Two such persons might even do so. When you get to three, though, maybe they're not lying. Upon reaching four . . . . I mean, come on. That said, among Generals Mark Milley, John Kelly and Jim Mattis, none of whom would have attained four stars were they ever caught lying, only Kelly was fired, along with former Defense Secretary Mark Esper. Each and everyone of them warn us that Trump should never be entrusted with the Presidency again.

Secondly, January 6th was the biggest "power grab" in American history, as Trump tried to wrongfully grab the powers of the Presidency itself. Unless of course - just like two of TRUMP'S VERY OWN Secretaries of Defense, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and Chief of Staff are all just making stuff up about him - all of those judges who rejected his election claims (as did each and every one of them) were just making stuff up too.

Finally, while leftists can be every bit as tyrannical as can those on the right, the extreme on the left is called communism while the extreme on the right is, indeed, called fascism. As a practical matter, the tyranny of the two are probably indistinguishable. The difference lies purely in ideology: running along a spectrum ranging from the extreme left's theoretical empowerment of all people ("dictatorship of the proletariat") to the extreme right's empowerment of just one man (called "Fuhrer," El Duce" . . . or Donald Trump).

True, none of us will truly know what lies in the heart of people. My concern it not just about people calling Trump a Fascist. I am also concerned how people throw the term around with out understanding what Fascist and Fascism mean. The word Fascist has become a word to scare "little children". People have become conditioned that when they hear the word Fascist that it is the boogie man. I hope the people from Trump's last administration that are condemning him of being a Fascist know the meaning. I suspect most do not understand the meaning and are using Fascist as boogie man.

Just wondering, how many of you folks on this comment page voted for Trump in the primary? Seems like everyone I talk to who is voting for him in the general says something like “he was not my first choice.” How the heck did he win the nomination?

Erick,

I think I can sum up your support for a man you know to have no integrity, and you know to be a civic degenerate. There's a saying attributed to Alexandre Auguste Ledru-Rollin. It's probably apocryphal but appropriate to this situation nonetheless.

Eh! je suis leur chef, il fallait bien les suivre." "Ah well! I am their leader, I really ought to follow them!"

I don't trust those of you on here who neither show your face or your name. So there.

I would, but I am afraid Trump would send his mob to vandalize my house.

I do not know what y'all are so afraid of. Why do you think Trump is so bad? I don't. I know some things that none of you know because I am a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in this state. Oh the things I know. The secrets I hold. That is what you should hold your nose about.

You should volunteer to work in the Trump campaign. They need someone with your skill set.

I'm intolerant of only "principled" voters and slow left lane driving. Shoulder in and push the cart, or sit down until 28.

I do not believe Trump will be elected and take the oath of office until I see it with my own two eyes and hear it with my ears. I don't claim to know how the establishment will stop him, but their resolve to do so is beyond anything I've ever witnessed. Our nation needs more prayers. Trump needs more protection. Conservatives need to vote for the least poor candidate even holding their nose, as I literally did myself, while voting. And of course, like others below stated before me, I will be glad when this election is decided, but I will still not be comfortable with a win for the GOP candidate until he is sworn into office. At THAT point on January 20th J.D. Vance can start to try to establish a new GOP going forward. Keep the push back against the biased media, woke policies, open borders, inflation, etc. but do it with wise words quickly spoken with some modicum of respect when respect is warranted. Please vote.

Today’s discussions feel like the days just before the Mount Saint Hellen eruption. Not a good thing, even if we win this election. Biting and arguing will still be between us. We definitely need to focus on loving God and our neighbor.

I agree. That having been said, I get tired of always 'letting whatever pass' & believe (obviously, like I pushed back today) that maybe, just maybe, I can lend a little depth to my 'argument.' There are ALOT of people who won't be convinced to ever moderate their opinion.

I wonder which 100 million Americans she will get money from her. Upper middle class?

Harris net worth 8 million.

I wish a reporter would ask Harris the actual definition of

Fascism without using Trump as her answer.

You can look it up on Google. Trump does indeed check many of the boxes. Not all, but many.

Fascist is a fascist does. Harris just used her official position as Vice President of the United States of America to call her political rival a Nazi lover. Do you not see the irony?

Maybe a Nazi, but Trump does not love anyone but himself.

Just like Comma-La, you didn't answer the question.

Sure, I see the irony. There are elements of fascism on both sides, but Trump is the champion.

Yes, she did! And I believe that act incites more violence against Trump.

The fact that Trump is moderating his positions just shows that he recognizes that our country is middle-of-the road. America is neither far Left, nor far Right.
