People desperately need God. This morning I listened to Michael Shellenberger on Jordan Peterson's podcast. Shellenberger has come back to Christianity after straying. What he has to say, especially in the Daily Wire exclusive segment, is so telling. Then I read this article in The Free Press: "I'm 28. And I'm scheduled to die in May." How horrifying. Despair is permeating our society, and only God can get us out of it.

The “Christian scholars” who think Mark 16 ends at verse 8 are heretics and wrong…get a King James Authorized Version of the Bible rather than a translation that depends on the Westcott and Hort underlying text.

Expand full comment

The Wescott and Hort translation is an abomination. Between that and Vaticanus 1209 a lot of errors are in "modern translations." But, God can get His message to people no matter what, so read what you want. I believe God could get His message to you if all you read was the phone book. That's not to say that's all we should read, but which translation you rely upon is not salvational. God bless and Godspeed.

Erick must think you belong to the "KJV Only" movement, fundamentalists who believe the 1611 KJV is God's chosen English translation and all others are works of the devil. I grew up on the KJV and read it to this day. It's remarkably accurate, and I love the poetic, Elizabethan language. I also like the Douay-Rheims Bible, which preceded the KJV by a few years. The D-R language is not so beautiful, but the translation from the Greek is quite good. Ironically, some traditional Catholics (like me) have been called "Douay-Rheims Onlyists" because of our attachment to this particular Bible. As for the modern translations, I prefer the Revised Standard Version over anything else, including the New RSV. I've found most "new" versions of any Bible to be inferior because of inclusive language and politically correct word choices.

I believe the KJV is the most accurate English translation today..it uses superior underlying texts; superior translators, and superior translation techniques (word-for word vs dynamic equivalency). I stand with David Cloud and his definition of 'King James Only' - https://www.wayoflife.org/database/king_james_only.html
