This is Joe Biden from yesterday:
The Democrats, who say Donald Trump is a threat to the republic, are running this man for President and pairing him with a woman whose own polling makes syphilis and serial killers look popular.
If the Democrats really think Trump is a threat to the republic, they would not be doing this. Biden’s age really is an issue for the Democrats. It comes up in casual conversation with voters. They are not reassured. While Trump might confuse Nikki Haley for Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden confuses living presidents of France for dead presidents of France. The man who cannot bring himself to go to war with Iran is most assuredly at war with the English language and nap time.
Trump has led Biden in nine of the last twelve public polls and has historically underperformed overperformed his polling. [thanks for the catch]
Joe Biden is skipping the Super Bowl interview for the second time because he cannot handle questions anymore. He does not want to debate Trump on stage for the same reason. He cannot handle it. The man is old and mentally deteriorating before our eyes.
Trump is not the same man he was in 2016, but Biden is not the man he was in 2020. Both are aging, but the pressures of the presidency are aging Biden rapidly. This past week, we conducted air strikes in Iraq, and economic news showed the economy roaring. Biden’s team could not even put him on a stage to rally people on both fronts. He is too old, and everyone, even the Democrats, knows it.
Biden’s saving grace is his opposition, which last night failed to impeach Secretary Mayorkas and turned on themselves over an immigration bill. Republicans have confused deploying a series of tactics for a master strategy. Meanwhile, after the public revelation Donald Trump has $5 million in Anheuser-Busch stock, Trump is calling on the GOP to move on and get back to drinking Bud Light. Ronna McDaniel, Trump’s hand-picked RNC chair, is leaving. God only knows who will replace her. The GOP is hemorrhaging money, as is the Trump campaign.
Biden’s path to re-election involves the GOP snatching defeat from the jaws of victory — something they are accomplished at. But, if you really think Trump is a threat to the republic, expecting the GOP to trip over its shoe strings is not a good plan. They expected that in 2016, too, and look what happened.
At first, I really thought it was intentional but as I listened more closely, I didn't hear the sarcasm he usually has behind his remarks. He pounded home the issue of not sending help, that made me think again that it was a "gaffe".
Events change things.
2016 was as much about Republicans burning down the GOP after 8 years of the GOP f'ing them over during Obama as it was Hillary couldn't get an 18 year old on viagra excited about her campaign.
2024 sees the GOP imploding on tactics without strategy (the slow road to victory) while the Democrats use the strategy of status quo their opponent lack of strategy as a tactic (strategy without tactics is the noise before defeat).
The only question is will the Democrats not loose in November and the Republican's slow road to victory come to an end in 2026, or can Trump win?
