President Biden has never ever stood up to the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. Each time they have demanded something, Biden has obliged. Now, they demand Biden embrace the “14th Amendment option,” which he and his Treasury Secretary have said is not an option. But now, suddenly, Biden claims it is an option.
National Review columnist Jim Geraghty made a comment this morning which appears to agree with my earlier comment:
"...Biden has an infuriating habit of initially recognizing that a particular proposal would violate the Constitution, saying so publicly, feeling pressure from his party’s hard left, and then buckling and agreeing to attempt or enact that unconstitutional change, with very little logical explanation of how a particular move magically became constitutional all of a sudden. He caved on court-packing. He caved on the filibuster. He caved on the eviction moratorium and on the vaccine mandate and on student loans."
Some of you may remember when President Clinton criticized the music group Sister Souljah for their violent lyrics and it was referred to ever after as his "Sister Souljah Moment" - the one time when he criticized a "progressive" idea.
The problem with Joe Biden is he never had one - the most outlandish progressive idea is agreed to by Biden without a peep. The answer is easy. His progressive handlers have probably made it clear that they "own" him - they can break him as well as "make" him.
Oh, you mean the Supreme Court that considered Obama Care as a tax and therefore upheld it? I am afraid Erick that we are now in a vastly different world that what we would like to be living in. Time and time again we have been disappointed and our precious Constitution violated and then justified with the "Living" concept. Handwriting is on the wall. After this next 2024 election you will become a believer if you don't find some way to justify the further silencing of the American Conservative voice. My solace is Christ is still on the throne and his will is accomplished every day. All praise and glory to Jesus!
I think many (or most) progressives really do believe that MMT is actually how our government works. They actually believe that our taxes do not really pay for anything, that the Fed can just print any money it needs. If this was the case, we would have universal health care for all, reparations for all, universal income etc. What color is the sky in their world?
The progies are talking about the 14th amendment as if it's a legitimate, valid avenue. Biden's said, "there sn't enough time for a unilateral solution". So he is saying yes, I could do this, it would work, but the court challenge would go past the default.
This is also another attack on the court, either we default because the partisan Justices take the case, or we default because the partisan Justices say no.
If the Bible is to be believed then this was all predicted.
They know it will tank the economy, and that’s exactly what they want. In reality the debt ceiling is a red hearing. Who cares if we hit it. It means the gov either shuts down or cuts spending. Let it shut down. We are all better off when this happens.
Cut spending, the only reason we are slipping past the ceiling is because of Bidens 87k irs agents.
Cut that and we save lots of money.
But this is intentional. Tank the economy so the gov can restructure it to a more socialist free handout society.
In the end do people not realize the constitution is as fragile as the piece of paper it’s written on.
As the covid dictatorship taught us rights can be suspended. People can be arrested for exercising those rights.
In the end, if you read revelations there will be setup a one world government under the rule of the Antichrist. It’s already happening.
I would never presume that the liberal justices would strike any part of the newest manifestation of left wing orthodoxy down. Would they not at least have that in the bag up front of this insanity?
Not to mention the loons in the press being ready to trot of the bubble headed experts to stoke up additional outrage against the court for their intransigence.
…but if the republicans cave on this, what’s next? Even an extension of time at this point seems like capitulation.
As Mark Levin pointed out last night on his Fox show, the 14th Amendment was intended to clear up the issue of debt instruments issued during the Civil War. The amendment clearly stated that only those claims against the United States were to be considered valid and that all claims against the Confederate States of America were as dead as that government. It did not open any door to unlimited debt issuance without regard to solvency by the United States. Besides being a form of fiscal suicide, such debt issuance would be patently unconstitutional on its face, and would be the ultimate expression of the Democrats' complete fiscal irresponsibility in the name of their agenda.
Have you ever seen an administration that just makes sh….t up as they go? If they don’t like the law just ignore it, it they don’t like your beliefs they will harass or arrest you. You don’t have to be qualified to be employed. You don’t have to work to get paid or be a citizen for that matter. I’m so tired of reading the news to see what they have done or allowed now. The left wouldn’t know the rule of law if it bit them on the butt, but yet they say we are ruining democracy.
