My wife nailed it when she said that Hillary imploded on her election loss while Donald exploded on his election loss.

Well said.

Mr. Erickson, you have stated you believe not all dems would be on board with dem plans to pack the SCOTUS, make DC a state, and eliminate the electoral college. Given the recent events I wonder if you believe the same? It seems to me any reservations those dems, whomever they are, may have had about doing so may have evaporated in the current environment, or perhaps they could simply be overrun by the more radical; that in their "righteous" anger over the storming of the capitol the dem leadership in Congress will use that event to enact legislation which will give the dem party permanent control of Congress, which DC statehood would almost certainly ensure.

Both the DC state issue and the electoral college issue are Constitutionally questionable, not that that would stop them. But packing the SCOTUS is definitely something that is within the dem power in the new Congress.

My concern is this: taking the high road as you do in your post is the proper tone here, however, if the dems pursue a path designed to give them permanent control of Congress there may come a time when the high road is no longer an option.

Anyhow, just my 2¢.

Erick, I'm on your page %100. Can you give us a list of organizations (outside the church) you recommend contributing to? I think I remember you like the Club for Growth. Any others? Thanks.

I'll bet any mother who listened to Donald Trump these last 4 1/2 years was itching to sit him down for a talkin' to. Don't blame others or say, "but THEY ...." He had such brilliant possibility and did himself more harm than anyone else could have done. The rudeness was so offensive, the blaming everyone but himself, and the final frightening crash and burn was so unnecessary for him, but more importantly for this country we all love.

We need to forgive Donald Trump and move on.

Condemn and prosecute violent rioters, yes. Both from the summer and from yesterday. But, recognize that yesterday there was no peaceful protest. Over the summer, there were many peaceful protests. Recognize as well that yesterday backfired spectacularly on what was being protested while the summer's protests had a mostly positive effect on raising awareness of the real issues of equity that were being protested. Hypocrisy, yes. Equivalence, no.

Please, continue to speak truth.

Nothing validates, excuses or pardons the unbelievable actions of American citizens who broke into the Congress of the United States of America.

The world is watching.

Question totally unrelated to the topic...

Since Warnock & Ossoff were (heaven help us) the same year, who is the "Senior Senator" from GA? Warnock because he's filling the the remainder of Issakson's term?

Also depends on certification. If one race is certified sooner, that guy will go.

Technically they'd go in alphabetical order, so Ossoff, but I suspect he'll defer to Warnock

of course he will...he'd get lambasted is he used his alphabetical privilege here.

The point I'd like to make is that I know what we saw yesterday does not reflect the vast majority of Trump's supporters. Please remember that the next time you hear someone trying to portray some first-term, pseudo-socialist bimbo as calling the shots in the Democratic Party.

Not apologizing. I'm happy to cancel your subscription.

You wrote it ....so you own it and will have to live with it. Similar to Trump and his tweets or anyone who makes any statement.

I did not expect an apology.

I will gladly own it. Said it this past summer too.

Thank you. I have come to know you somewhat through your writings. (Do not know where to tune in to your radio program). Your comment appeared to be written in a moment of frustration. I have those moments too. (Like right now knowing that Biden/Harris and their administration most exhibiting the spirit of the antichrist (1John 4: 1-7) will be affecting our lives over the next two years or more.) Your comment just did not seem like “you”.

The beauty of the left strategy is simple: they can lie about...anything, they can be complete jackA's for years. As long as you are the jackA first, I guess that's OK, it prevents others from saying "what about"....

Summer peaceful protests turned violent from what appears to be external agitation. In your picture on the email, I'd bet money those clowns in helmets are similar external agitators.

But of course, that doesn't excuse any of this...unless this was accomplished by Ds....

The press and Ds are in a full court press now. It is ugly. If an R tries to speak up, well that R is also a criminal.

Part of what pisses me off about all of this is it slams shut any potential discussion of the good things Trump did over the last 4 years, against all odds...against the press, the Ds and much of the R party...lots of good actually happened.

Now it simply doesn't matter.

"...it slams shut any potential discussion of the good things Trump did..." Honestly, Trump managed that on his own. As much as MSNBC and CNN spun the stories coming out of the White House the fact remains that Trump really didn't need their 'help'.

I don't support Trump, didn't vote for him, but whenever I engaged with people and tried to point-out the way the media was clearly spinning some of the stories the first question out of their mouths was "Are you a Trump supporter?!"

Trump, at times, appeared to go out of his way to dismiss the half of the population that criticized him and didn't vote for him. He behaved like an angry teenager on Twitter, he made jokes at other people's expense, he spoke in innuendo and hedged most of his more inflammatory statements with, "They say...", "I was told..." and acted as if Q-anon is a credible movement. He never took responsibility for anything that turned out badly for him - he was always the victim and everyone was against him.

The media owns a large responsibility in forming our perceptions - all media - but Trump chose to start that fight from the moment he began his campaign just like he chose to defame, and mock the sitting Senators and Representatives during his rallies.

It's hard for me to imagine a mature, emotionally stable person doing these things and then expecting everyone to 'work with him' once he was elected. Now he's even 'dis-sed' Mike Pence because, apparently, years of being a 'wing-man' only counts if you go down with the burning plane.

I suspect that people, like me, see the good things that Trump did for this country, but for those he alienated by his unedited personal attacks and divisive rhetoric they may never be willing to allow for the positives. I hold him responsible for that.

You nailed it, think you expressed how most reasonable people feel about this situation. The rioters yesterday should be fully prosecuted and the ones over the summer should have been also.

True...except Mr. Erickson was calling for yesterday’s protestors to be shot. Refer to his “I told you So” article on January 6, 2021.
