If you’ve listened to my program or read my takes over the years, you will know that I am the last guy to embrace a conspiracy theory. I say that because I need you to know that I fully believe what I am about to say: If the victims of Hurricane Helene in North Carolina were black and the President was a Republican, national media reporters would be covering the government’s incompetent response with the epistemic vitriol they did following Katrina.
Instead, we’re forced to rely on local reporters and updates from nonprofits like Samaritan’s Purse to understand what’s happening on the ground. Predictably, this has allowed conspiracy theories seeded by Russian bots to run rampant pushing wild claims about FEMA blocking or arresting people who try to get in the area.
The vast majority of the FEMA claims are simply not true. But many on the right have chosen to obsess over FEMA as opposed to the painstakingly slow response from the Biden administration. Instead of prioritizing the response to stranded Americans in North Carolina, Biden and Harris were tweeting about the humanitarian crises in Lebanon and Ukraine as white Americans were dying. Watch:

The media used to flush out the blatant hypocrites. Now the media is the primary promulgator of hypocrisy. The Republican attacks we had to endure over Katrina... and now they defend the old vegetable Biden and cardboard cutout Harris as either not responsible, or doing a fantastic job responding to Helene... now another cat-4 is hurling toward Florida!
If this poor disaster response does not prove that Democrats hate the working class, then ya'll have rose colored political blinders on. It looks to me like the Democrats are hoping the weather makes it impossible for people to vote because they are dead or otherwise lack the ability.
On-the-ground reports I have seen from two private helicopter pilots - people that have half a million dollars invested in their aircraft so not exactly fools - confirm FEMA interference and arrest threats.
On-the-ground reports from at least two faith-group volunteers state that either FEMA or NC state authorities refused to allow distribution of free / donated supplies, because said supplies were not sourced from an approved vendor.
If these are conspiracy theories, call me a conspirator.
