Asking people to march on the United States Capitol is incitement to insurrection. Calling President Trump a Nazi who must be stopped by any means is just words.
Telling people there are pets in Springfield, OH, being eaten by Haitians makes Donald Trump and JD Vance culpable for bomb threats at local schools. But calling Trump a threat to democracy who’d be an authoritarian tyrant who’d never leave office is just commentary on MSNBC.
I think I’m ready to tap out from the insanity of all of this. The left is playing Calvinball. The rules are for you and me and Trump supporters, not them. They get to incite violence.
How about we say the crazy are responsible for their own actions, but everyone should be measured in their words. As a friend noted the other day, citing Margaret Thatcher, tweeted, “Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Watch your words, for they become actions. Watch your actions, for they become habits. Watch your habits, for they become your character. And watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.”
The quote is a good one. It is derived from Jeremiah 4:14. It is sometimes attributed to Lao Tzu. It is actually derived from Frank Outlaw, the supermarket magnate who founded Bi-Lo.
It is a good quote.
Everybody could use to cool their rhetoric. Yes, including those who mocked the attack on Nancy Pelosi’s husband. But I continue to note the Democrats’ rhetoric that Donald Trump is the second coming of Hitler, a threat to democracy, and a would be tyrant who would not give up power is repeated on a near daily basis on MSNBC and by prominent Democrats. MSNBC inspired James Hodgkinson to attempt the mass assassination of Republican members of Congress.
And I absolutely believe a large number of the on air talent at that network would be happy if Donald Trump were assassinated.
The problem is Democrat politicians do not actually believe their rhetoric. But MSNBC talking heads and crazy people do.
As for you and me, all I can tell you is tune out the crazy on all sides. Tune out the crazy that leads you to believe ABC gave Kamala Harris advanced access to the questions. Tune out the crazy that leads you to believe Donald Trump would grab power and never let it go.
Instead, take this piece of advance. “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
Everything else will take care of itself as God intends. Do not give in to the madness of the age.
Great piece! Perhaps one additional piece of advice: Neither candidate is our Saviour. And I'm talking specifically to those saying Trump is the only one that can save us. Is he the better choice? Yes, but our Saviour he is not.
