Legit question. No sarcasm.

With all this going on. And I am no economist. But why can’t the fed just set the rate to a static 1% or 2%?

Wouldn’t it make more sense to set it low to increase borrowing and spending?

I feel like the Taylor Swift thing mirrors real life, in that most people don't really care but a small but vocal minority on X make it look like half the country is against her. I suspect a lot of folks who are long time football fans think the way that I do. The constant TV shots are annoying but they don't affect my life in any way. This too shall pass.

TS is so irrelevant to me as are all of the song artists and most actors. Been like that since covid when they lectured me about staying home and wearing masks basking in the comfort of their million dollar homes while people were getting fired right and left and couldn’t put food on the table.

Erick: while you aptly observed, "Life is too short to complain constantly about everything and a hell of a lot of people really could use to touch some grass," perhaps a toke or two of that grass would help? Obviously, I am being facetious here. Yet why should anyone be shocked, offended, irritated, or gobsmacked that people who disagree with them, well, they actually disagree with them? We live in a pluralistic society. We are constantly provided the answers the other side--as numerous as they are getting to be--believes will fix everything. What is it those who have chosen to use overly emotional language rather than logic and sound thinking we should do? Wait, wait, wait! How about we actually do what will work, provide answers through our doing, and then let the answers we provide (and for the sake of time and space I will assume these are the ones which will work) prove our argument! Nothing wins an argument like success. Constant complaining never draws attention to the problem but only to the one doing the complaining. Do you want attention or effectiveness?

"The “Black National Anthem?” I agree it is divisive and part of the woke nonsense that black people are something other than American. But are you really that offended by a nicely sung song that you can’t enjoy the game?"

You answered your question and then asked it. We ignored this crap as you suggest and ended up in cultural hell. No more. We will enjoy the game when the crap like a black national anthem is purged.

It didn't offend me because I didn't see it, nor did I see the game, nor have I seen its predecessors for the past 20 years. Nor am I offended by anything else on TV, because that's something else I stopped about 20 years ago. I can't see that I have missed much.

My sons and their friends are NFL nuts. They roped me into fantasy football this year. I was reluctant because I stopped watching NFL after the BLM and kneeling crap. But I cannot help but love the current 49er team even after it was that team’s QB that led the BLM crap. I also watched the series Hard Knocks with my wife, and that connected me more with some of the players.

The problem with just ignoring is that the crap still happens and pollutes the minds of all the people still watching. I disagree with Erick. I think we need to consistently and loudly oppose and criticize the crap. Did you note the effort of Bud Lite to repair the market damage done? How much did they pay Post Malone and his entourage to be seen with those cans of beer in their hands? Don’t you think that the corporation learned its lesson? Conservative activism worked. Ignoring the crap does not.

I agree with your assessment that people are straining their necks to find the next thing to be angry about. Personally, I'm sick of it and I believe it's mostly brought on by the new mindset that says "you must agree with me or I hate you". Pretty sad commentary on the American way of life.

But...there's danger in the shadows of some of the things you mention. The Jesus Gets Us ads are refreshing, in that a positive spin is put on the name and actions of Jesus. Hallelujah!! So I went to their website to learn something about their intentions and it just "feels" like a watered-down, everybody-is-accepted version of Jesus that seems to leave out the whole repentance requirement. "Women's rights, inclusivity and migrants" are all areas of concern on the website, and can be issues that believers need to be thinking about. But...they're also buzz words for the liberal agenda that is literally overtaking our country.

Certainly, some of the outrage exists for clicks, some is uninformed anger for the sake of being angry, and some is legitimate concern for the future of our country. In any case, it's refreshing to hear your thoughts and I appreciate your wisdom. Carry on in the strength of the Lord.

The “Black National Anthem?” I agree it is divisive and part of the woke nonsense that black people are something other than American... but it really does seem more and more of the right just want to be pissed off.

I have a different take... Remember the mostly peaceful protests of 2020? They were nicely conducted (according to the left) so what's the problem?

How about a nicely sung rendition of God Save the South? Hay Democrats what's the problem?

Like the Mississippi State flag be charged in 2020. Yes it needed to be changed, but in 2020 to capitulate to the petulant children on the left burning down cities across America.

My opinion at the time was f you left, when you stop the temper tantrum we will look at it.

Same thing here. So now we have two national anthems because the left is saying no, blacks are not Americans, or not equal Americans, or whatever nonsense.

No, I won't stand up and take my hat off for a song other than the National Anthem. This is the Left pushing the Right, taking another inch and they won't stop, you know, we know it.

When do we get say enough is enough?

I have a on and off switch on my tv as well as a volume control I don’t have to listen to all the hype before or after the game I watched a very entertaining game missed the half time show and had to put up with shots of famous people that I could care less about other than that the best team on that day won

Erick, I personally do not like the way you say a few things (e.g., the way you use the word "hell" sometimes). But, I am thankful to the Lord for you and pray that He will enlarge your readership and that many will listen to what you have to say. I live in Puerto Rico and we cannot vote for the president of the USA, but if I lived there in the states, I think I would seriously consider writing in your name for president of the USA (unless I was convinced that doing so would definitely help a democrat win). May the Lord help you (and all of us) to have wisdom that only He can give and give you the courage to write the truth always. Again, I am thankful for you and your "ministry". May He be with you.

Erick, what we're seeing here is a result of life being too convenient for too many people.

Today, we have such a generous social safety net that people can literally just exist, not do anything productive, and yet they're still eating.

Years ago, that wasn't the case. If you couldn't take care of yourself, and your family/friends didn't take care of you, well.... you just died of starvation, exposure, whatever.

Life used to be a lot more difficult, and for many people, it was all about where their next meal was going to come from. Today, people have far too much free time on their hands to dream up conspiracy nonsense or manufacture outrage where none exists... be they left-wing or right-wing.
