Great quote from the WSJ.

"Politics isn’t the art of the impossible, but Ms. Greene and her crew of vandals prefer to scream and throw soup at the walls, like those climate-change protesters who think their ludicrous gestures are accomplishing something."1

And they call the Democrat Party the big tent, but with only one idea. Republican's actually have the big tent and a lot of ideas... a bunch of ideas... some different ideas.... maybe of a handful of different ideas... and can't get a long because big money is in the way.

Who is going to purge whom?? The establishment of the GOP is now Trump and his acolytes. The GOP is no longer conservative. It is populist that is culturally conservative, true, but fiscally “liberal”.

Who the hell is going to guide Donald Trump on fiscal issues if he wins? Chip Roy?? He supported DeSantis and will be shunned. Remember the mandatory loyalty requirement? Of course you do.

The GOP needs to be defeated badly in November. If so then the rebuilding can begin. But it probably won’t be because the Democrats are screwing up right and left, thereby ensuring Trumps victory.

What a sorry state of affairs.

If Trump gets into office and acts like a fool and spends all his time settling scores from 2022 midterms when his endorsed candidates got hammered instead of advancing Republicans Platforms , Republicans will not see a Majority for a very long time. We have to lead by example or else the Democrats in the mid term will say “See I Told you” and there goes any gains Republicans might have made.

Go ahead and go scorch earth on me, because I am not a MAGA supporter! However, you know what I said is true.

Theirn, if we lose, and lose badly in November, I truly think democrats will institute a 51%, anything goes rule, will rubber-stamp-judges, and in many ways implement what they really want, show elections where you get to choose whatever version of democrat you want. I know many here despise Trump, but we will better survive him, than putting the current deep state puppet in charge. General Patton was crass, arrogant, and probably largely a jerk, but in getting the best of Nazis, he did well. I’m not going to the Nazi extreme here about democrats but I do think most of them constitute a fifth-column ripping up our civilization.

I don't like the negative polarization that consumes our political discourse.

If the Democrats win, of course they will rubber-stamp judges. This is exactly why many voted for Trump in 2016, they wanted Republican rubber-stamped judges. In 2018 Donald Trump wanted to end the Senate filibuster, In 2021 he seemed to change his mind and agreed with Mitch McConnell that ending the filibuster would "ruin the GOP."

It's going to be rough for the U.S. whoever wins in November, but I'm inclined to take my chances with the Democrats at this point. I'm not going to like what happens but I'm pretty sure the country will be worse off after 4 more years of Donald Trump. I'll just say I really don't understand how any American can support him after January 6. He disqualified himself for office on that day.

But as I said above, it's very possible that Donald Trump will win. If so, I hope I'll be proved wrong.

Me too, but one thing about rubber stamp Republican judges… they tend to follow previous laws and precedents, less likely to unicorn dream judgements they make to inflict their version of utopia.

I believe you are right. But, I also believe that there is nothing that is going to stop the democrats from "winning". They are not going to let Trump win. And while I didn't listen to Erics comments on exactly who he wants "purged", all I can say is that the establishment part of the party has consistently sided with democrats when there is any bit of resistance to spending, among other things. In any event, suggesting a purge is sure not the way to get a republican of any kind elected.

The Trump Administration increased the debt by $8.5 Trillion. More than Obama, more than even Biden.

A lot of that was covid related, but to your point, I am not happy with the spending habits of ANY of them.

I sure hope you’re not right, but with the ‘security’ agencies in the tank for democrats, it could happen. All those skills in manipulating elections around the world to our supposed advantage, why stop there? To them the Constitution is a dusty old document made for another age.

Purge the right and you invite the left.

I would like to say that there is no difference between the two parties but there really is. Despite what people think laughably that there is such a thing as a Moderate democrat. There isn't.

And the conservative movement is not the fault of republicans, its the liberal lefts attempts to destroy everything that America stands for as a country and to change us into a despotic ruler ship cadre of elites who decide what's best.

Trump is a symptom not a cause. He says what needs to be said often, and although he isn't perfect, he has the courage to say it. Sometimes it comes out wrong.

That's why they vote for him.

I still believe allot of the bad info on so-called conservative nationalist is more about the media lies than actual facts. People forget that they demonized GWB, John Mccain, and bob Dole. Trump is just an easier target.

But here is the solid real facts that will hit you in the face and kick you in the sweet spot. Its either them or nothing. You may not like trump or the loonies he plays with sometimes but whats the alternative? Biden? Come on.

Sure primary some of these more insane ones, but make sure that doesn't lead to the other side winning.

And installing a rhino in place of a true conservative is not much better.

It is galling to me that if we had a true majority of rational conservatives in the House how much we could accomplish. Instead we have an extreme right, a not so extreme, something in the middle of that and then a whole lot of liberal progressives who call themselves republicans. They are democrats with an R.

You call it obstructionist but I will take a divided house that fights and gets nothing done over a progressive congress ruled by pelosi who has a whole of darkness within her soul.

As bad as our side may be and the bad apples that are there. Its nothing compared to the left. They are true evil and they have very bad policies. Unfortunately they also get elected all too often which says more about media propaganda than the issues the right has.

The message being displayed is the problem along with ignorant or ill informed voters. we have no choice here. Support our side or be ruled by the left.

Matt Gaetz is not the problem with the Republican Party. The problem is that the GOP has far too many members overly concerned with how the press, the mainstream media in particular, will portray them. The media loves bi-partisanship, but it bi-partisanship that has resulted in $35 Trillion dollars in debt with a yearly deficit of $2 Trillion dollars. It’s the by-partisan war machine that wants to continue to send money to Ukraine and prop up a corrupt regime that is only in place because the U.S. wanted their guy - thanks Victoria Nuland - and staged a color revolution. Bi-partisanship has failed. At least Gaetz believes in something. You might not like his tactics, but he has a North Star and he’ll reach it. The establishment GOP is going to need to come to the realization that their time is just about up,

Very true. Republicans worry about being liked. Democrats focus on implementing their policies regardless of being liked or not.

You nailed it sir! Republicans whine and cry as the Democrats run over them with a steam roller. Instead of stepping out of the way and kicking the Driver’s A$&!

I am sorry but the old saying “nice guys finish last” still rings true today!

But democrats always have the wind at their back, i.e. most media, tech companies, AWFL’s, and apparently, the leadership of America’s intelligence agencies, they don’t have to even make sense, they will always be ‘liked’ by the blob. If democrats had to operate in a fair environment, where logic applies and truth isn’t fluid, they’d be less liked by the low-information voters that help keep them in power.

The Democrats are liked and protected by the media. They stopped being journalists and picked sides. They still control the narrative to a great extent, they print lies on page 1 and corrections on page 8 without the headline.

While I agree that Republicans need to do what is right and take the message to their constituents, al la Mitch McConnell doesn't care (what anyone who is not his constituent thinks) it is far easier for Democrats to double down on darkness, it is after all the status quo, than for Republicans to keep the light burning.

The current dynamic where we do not have a free press influences behavior on both sides. The first job of a politician is to get reelected.

Matt leeroy jenkins Gaetz absolutely is part of the problem as is MT the clown Green. We are here because of Gaetz and MTG just wants chaos to grift off.

While Democrats have their own infighting, Marxist vs antisemite, a good number of Republicans have swung left to be liked and get reelected. The problem though is clear, the "R" means nothing if we don't have core principles.

We only have a two-seat majority because of the Dodd decision and the radical Conception at Birth part of the GOP. Female rage over those things prevented the red wave in 2022. I have heard from the Conception at Birth radicals in the GOP party and they told me it was worth it.

Well then, take responsibility for what is broken.

Expand full comment

I disagree. Red wave didn't happen because of several problems that were there in 2020 were still there. No this isn't a comment on stolen elections. Take Florida as an example. They dramatically changed their voting policies and basically banned mail in ballots.

Making it easier to vote for lazy democratic voters is primarily the reason for the 2022 debacle.

But that's not all of it. The republicans insistence to stay honorable and preserve their voting till Election day is NOT how the game is played right now. I don't like it, I wish it wasn't that way but this is the playing field now. Early voting and Mail in ballots are here to stay. If we don't get out the vote and make republicans commit to voting regardless of mail ins or early voting. Then we will continue to lose.

But that fact is also why I think Trump has little chance of winning. He may be up in the polls but how much will that translate to today's system? Somebody in the three swing states of MI Wis, and Penn can vote from their couch. Unless that somehow changes, forget it.

There are always ways to spin issues like abortion. Kicking it back to the states has saved lives so I support that decision by the Supreme Court. Republicans, to take on the abortion issue need to emphasize the Democrats believe in aborting full term babies. People in general do not support that.

You do not go to war when your majority is one. The two congressmen who left recently should have finished their terms. Not completing their terms is selfish and hurts the people who voted for them. How do their constituents get things done with the federal government without a congressman to stand up for their needs?

I also do not agree with MTG threatening the Speaker. Pretty immature because no one else can do the job any more effectively. Republicans need to stick together. Yes the spending bills are crap but they could pass something although not perfect is less than what was passed. Kind of like being a grown up.

Expand full comment

I think we need a revolution, not status quo. Status quo is not working for 80% of the country. The problem with Republicans and abortion is that the party has a sizable number of complete anti-abortion zealots to rival the no-restriction on abortion zealot Democrats. Those Republicans are the larger voice and they cause justified female rage that motivates females to vote Democrat. People don’t support late term abortion and they don’t support anti abortion. But Dodd and the Republican zealots killed the red wave in 2022.

Let me challenge this. What would you rather have. the Dobbs decision hadn’t happened or RvW upheld. Which then would have lead to a red wave as predicted.

Or things happened as they did.

I would rather have RvW gone. Thank you.
