On July 14th when they once again eschew the will of the people for the will of Those Who Know Best and de-select Platner for whoever they select (remember "selected not elected"?) they will be demonstrating which party actually doesn't like democracy/voting. They never again get any moral high ground on the topic of "threat to democracy". What little they had left after Biden was driven out and Kamala installed as their nominee, is absolutely spent and gone. It is all about power and politics not about freedom and laws for them.
I just don’t get it. This guy is out of line on so many levels as a regular citizen let alone as a person running for senator. I am simply incredulous.
The actions of our president did not keep him from winning election twice. I’m curious to see any of this matters one iota with Platner. We don’t have much of a moral compass here in America anymore.
I don't think that Platner as a person is worth a comment but I do fear that certain members of the Democratic Party would back Satan himself if he was running as a Democrat. I also figure that those Democrats who didn't actually endorse Platner would say nothing or that they'll have to wait for more credible information before making a decision.
Erick, your commentary this morning was good for a genuine laugh, so thanks! I agree with the general criticism of Platner, but the hyperbole meter doesn't need to be pinned to eleven.
My favorite passage was this gem:
"We have a sociopathic liar who, through a well-orchestrated PR campaign by the Democratic Socialists of America, has infiltrated the Democratic Party and is now attempting to take over the Democrats like a cuckoo bird shoving the other eggs out of the nest."
Let's forget for a second that all we have to do is change four words of that paragraph, and it sums up the current Commander-In-Thief perfectly. Apparently Graham Platner has now achieved the same level of political dominance that your Orange Earthly Savior enjoys among his GOP disciples. Amazing! One controversial local politician, and suddenly the entire Democratic Party has been conquered from within. The scale of the threat is truly breathtaking. Soon, we will all experience the ultimate nightmare: SOCIALISM. You know, terrifying things like affordable healthcare, decent public schools, and making sure people don't go bankrupt because they got sick. The horror!!! Somebody alert the townspeople, ring the church bells, and hide the women and children!
Additionally, one thing I can't help noticing (or mentioning) on the daily: your darts are often aimed at everyone around Trump, but never at your favorite dictator himself. Paxton, Collins, Cabinet officials, staffers, and MAGA cronies are all fair game, but somehow Orange Jesus himself remains untouched, floating serenely above all criticism like a metaphorical and literal political deity whose every failure is actually someone else's fault. In a universe where Trump can apparently do no wrong, the only explanation is that everyone else somehow manages to do all the wrong for him.
I would assume that most of the people reading Erick's newsletter would never consider voting for Platner. So, I wonder, why are we so consumed with his transgressions. It is obvious that partisans of either party would vote for Satan himself if it meant gaining control of the Senate. In a perfect world, both would hold their candidates to a higher standard. While I don't expect Democrats to do that anytime soon, I do expect Republicans to do so.
Erick put it pretty well a while back when he said the party that gets back to “normal” first wins. I see what you do-the Republicans can now change their campaign platform from “Vote for us, we’re not Democrats!” to “Vote for us, our circles around the drain are still bigger!”
and yet the GOP has Ken Paxton. You're right about partisans from both sides only voting for the "D" or the "R" and skipping past the acceptability of the candidate. And those are the folks who vote in primaries which is why we have not just bad but dangerous choices in some of our elections.
Dems only believe a woman when it serves their purpose otherwise they lie unless they are a tranny then everything that comes out of their mouths must be believed
What with discussions of Substack's new policy on censoring and "hiding" comments that are deemed offfffennnnsive, I'm happy to see that yours got through!
Well... they definitely get a lot more press these days. Lookup Victoria Hull first woman to run for president, Henry Ford, "coin " Harvey (1932), George Train "dictator of the united states", Huey Long was surrounded by nuts like G.L.K.Smith. that is just a few...

In Platner and other men of his ilk, lust and rage reign supreme...with an (im)moral compass that only points due south.
Where’s Michelle Obama and her Hollywood friends of the #metoo movement? Crickets
Platner is. Democrat. It was ok for Clinton lie under oath in a sexual harassment case and smack a women. What is different??
Platner follows in "Bubba" Clinton's footsteps: A d*ckslinger, much loved by certain voters.

the democrat party will back all kinds of cruddy people if they tow the current party line --- it is a party of hypocrits
you get the sense that Platner is just hoping that somehow the lies don't blow up......and yet I fear that even when they do he'll STILL get elected.

Politics is increasingly a playground for wealthy sociopaths and fame seekers.

I dunno... Chris Hayes always has the look on his face where he is trying to figure out how wet the fart was.
Erick, shhh. Let the Dims nominate Platner. Janet Mills might be able to beat Susan Collins.
