First, I need to tell you all thank you sincerely.
Two weeks ago, transgender activists and a very aggressive and aggrieved Trump supporter began bombarding some of my advertisers to end their relationship with me. The trans supporters attacked me as a bigot. The Trump supporter mischaracterized a tweet of mine to, surprise, attack me as a bigot.
Thankfully, the advertisers stuck with me.
This week, pro-Hamas supporters are aggressively attacking some of my advertisers over my statements about good and evil and Hamas. So far, my advertisers are standing with me.
You guys have also stuck with me, and I thank you. My paying subscribers actually help me cover the costs of radio. I am able to generate enough money from your subscriptions to pay my employees, cover my satellite transmission costs, and maintain my office. You guys give me peace of mind that I can keep paying the bills for syndicated radio and pay my staff's salaries even if the campaigns against my advertisers are successful. So, thanks again for having my back and helping make it hard to cancel me.
Now, on to Jim Jordan.
This morning at 10 o’clock, the House of Representatives will convene to reject Jim Jordan a third time. The first time, Jordan lost by 20 votes. The second time, Jordan lost by 22 votes. He is expected to lose more votes the third time. Maybe, however, he has used the last twenty-four hours to seal the deal.
It just does not look like it based on what I am hearing.
I hear that all those who voted against Jordan the second time will vote against him the third time. Likewise, more people are expected to vote against him this time.
The problems are multi-faceted, but they come down to a few reasons you should understand, even if you disagree with them.
First, there are those who are so adamant against Jordan because of how Matt Gaetz handled McCarthy that I think Jordan could hold 30 votes and still not become Speaker. A small number, maybe a half-dozen, are committed to stopping Jordan because they see doing otherwise as a reward to Matt Gaetz.
Second, there are those who were for Jordan and think it is time to move on now because he cannot pull it off. They don’t dislike Jordan. But they’ll add their nays today because they want to signal Jordan can’t pull it off. Again, it is not because they are opposed to Jordan. It is because they know he cannot win and hope that by voting no, Jordan might give it up instead of wasting everyone’s time.
Third, there are those who are convinced Jordan would be a disastrous Speaker. Some privately mock his impeachment hearings. They don’t think he can build consensus. They point out to reporters that Jordan has never passed meaningful legislation. They think he’d be a disaster as Speaker and is ill-suited for the job.
Lastly, there are those who think if Jordan is Speaker, the moderates in the House will be forced to deal with stolen election stuff constantly and Jordan’s time as an assistant wrestling coach. They don’t want to go through that and so will vote against Jordan.
On a side note, several of those who voted for Jordan the first and second time knew he would not have the votes, so they could vote for him and avoid the bullying. There are those playing politics here, to be sure. Speaking of the bullying, the death threats to members and their spouses has solidified opposition to Jordan. One member specifically told me he would no longer support Jordan because of the mob-like tactics.
Regardless of your or my views on Jordan (I’d support him), he does not appear to have the votes. So the only question is how long he keeps pushing for votes and, when he is done, who do the Republicans favor.
Patrick McHenry has now scuttled the backup plan. He says he’d rather resign than pretend to be Speaker without actually being Speaker. Good for him.
Also, thanks Matt Gaetz for poisoning the well so much that the first actual conservative in a long time with the potential to be Speaker cannot get the votes.
About Joe Biden’s Speech
Y’all, the man needed a Red Bull and some of Hunter’s cocaine. What was that?
The Leader of the Free World needs some energy. He had none. The man is tired and exhausted and does not look capable of leading anything besides the retirement home's buffet line.
But he positively looked leaderly compared to the House Republicans.
Happy to support your show against the haters Erick! If the people going after your advertisers are in favor of Hamas, transing the kids, and stolen election nonsense then I think you're making the right enemies and doing a lot of good.
First I would like to thank you for all that you do. Although I don’t always agree with you, I count on your honest reporting. Your Christian take on the world and its problems is very much appreciated. You help keep me grounded in what’s really important.
I’m still proud to have Jim Jordan as my congressman. As the saying goes God willing and the creek don’t rise, the world won’t blow up , the Republican house will get some sense, and Israel will get their day in court. God bless your readers and you Mr. Erickson.
