How do you shrink the FBI? Reduce the Federal Criminal code. I like Federalism. Let states deal with most if not all criminal activity. I understand that the FBI got involved in RICO across state lines to deal with cartels, gangs, and the Mob. But at some point, this has turned into the FBI raiding people's homes early in the morning for political purposes and not for necessary law enforcement.
The wailing and gnashing of teeth the Left is engaging in right now should be a perfect example of why you don't give government power. Because, eventually, the pendulum of power will swing back to the other side and when the other side has that power they will use it. If you don't want it used against you, don't give that power to "your side," because it will be used against you when "the other side" gets control of it, and they will. Unfortunately, the Left just can't see it.
There are so many examples of this truth... the Democrats pushing for instant gratification policies to help them push their agenda where those policies are then used against them later to thwart their agenda. Think of the Biden Rule to hold on court appointments. The Reid nuclear option change. The Democrats want to pack the Supreme Court.. but then what if the packing is conservative judges? They want to eliminate the electoral college but voter demographic shifts could eventually reverse the popular vote advantage to Republicans. I think part of the reason they are like this is that they believe they have the power dominating the institutions of influence where they can manipulate the narrative in their favor once the fallout hits. However, the move to independent media like Substack is thwarting that advantage... which is why they want a Ministry of Truth power to thwart the independent media.
What all this boils down to is the Democrat money making sandbox being protected. They are rent-seeking looters seeking insider trading advantages and they need to control the major government power and influence institutions to keep the juices flowing. They just don't have the capability to fund their elite social status with productive enterprise. So the Republican reforms are a real personal economic threat and that is why they are so frantic to stop it.
Now you've done it, Erick. The FBI will soon be at your door for your violent rhetoric. You just threatened to drown people in your bathtub. That sure sounds a lot like a "bloodbath" to me.
Kash Patel is one of the so-called loyalists that actually performed without thinking there was something in it for him. As with RFK Jr. and Tulsi, I have no concerns about his seriousness, which is why they will all be opposed to the end.
Get rid of the patriot act get the government out of US citizens private life and force the FBI to fight crime and the only way to do that is cut the funding because the bureaucrats will not give up without a fight and make congress accountable. I won’t hold my breath
The hysteria, handwringing, and fearmongering over imagined outcomes has become almost comical. I taught all my kids a lesson on this subject when they were about ten years old: Your imagination makes the problem far worse than the reality will ever be. Suck up your fear, face the problem head-on, and get on with doing the right thing. How often are those hyper-ventilating bloviators like MSNBC's Jonathan Lemire correct? Almost never. In fact, they're usually not even close. So stop believing they will be right the next time.
Those are fair points, but I'd resist the hand-wringing for now. We won't know if Patel can fumigate the FBI's 7th floor as he arrives. But, as with the presidency itself, it's the team Patel assembles and brings with him, along with the support and cover of the Attorney General and her team at the DOJ, which has its own issues. The record suggests that Patel is more than capable, given his authorship of the Nunes Memo, which courageously exposed the Russian Collusion Hoax before it was fashionable.
Donald Trump wants to see what Kash Patel can do within a Constitutional framework (something Joe Biden and nearly every other Dem never cared a whit about) to prevent the FBI from conducting unlawful and unethical politically-influenced investigations, now and at least into the distant future. Trump should be allowed his man to perform that task. If Patel can't accomplish the mission, okay, then you replace him.
Simple as that. The Left in Congress, media, "entertainment," and academe should stop playing the fake hysteria card. Or, at least, more of America should recognize they're playing it, and, disgustedly, ignore them.
It’s obvious. Whatever the mainstream press says, believe the opposite. Remember, according to Joe Scarborough “this version of Joe Biden is the best version of Joe Biden”…disregard the deep fakes of him falling upstairs and shaking hands with ghosts. Despicable.
Ahhh, the sweet smell of irony at dawn: Biden states out loud that his Department of Justice has politically targeted an American citizen. 'Scuse me while I polish my tinfoil conspiracy cap.
To quote you .. "My concern is that many of President Trump’s picks have engaged in elaborate theater to show their loyalty, but they lack the ability, knowledge, competence, and discernment to actually break the back of the bureaucratic state." What politician of the modern has demonstrated the ability, knowledge, competence, and discernment to dismantle the bureaucratic state. None. NO ONE HAS DONE IT!!! It is a Herculean task that only those who are strong enough, tough enough, and committed enough can hope to make a dent in it. This looks like the best team on the field I've seen so far. Let's giv'em a chance.

Once they have such power, it never goes away.
The Patriot Act, as an American Patriot, MUST go away.
If you want to know what J. Edgar Hoover's FBI was doing back in the 1960's, just look up a fellow by the name of Gary Thomas Rowe, Jr.

We will be our own downfall.
