Over the past 24 hours, my radio show has been flooded with calls and emails from listeners in Springfield, Ohio where the false story was spawned that Haitian migrants were eating house cats. Social media agitators on the right quite literally created this story out of thin air which has allowed mainstream media outlets to debunk it as racism and simply move on.
But the calls and emails directed at my show are from right-of-center listeners who are singularly furious with the social media agitators because Springfield, Ohio is a city overrun with immigrants. This city with a population of 58,000 saw 15,000 to 20,000 immigrants with work permits move into the city to work low-wage manufacturing jobs.
This blue-collar city has been forced to massively drive up investments in education and basic services because the influx of immigrants has overwhelmed the community’s resources.
This is a complicated issue but the Biden-Harris administration made it inextricably worse by allowing thousands of unskilled Haitians into this country with work permits. Instead of focusing on Kamala Harris’s evolving immigration policy or her economic policy, too many people on the right want to fabricate stories about Haitians eating cats less than two months before an election. Watch:
Stories like these make we ponder whether they are actually false flags meant to distract from the real issue, and discredit legitimate dissent. Just like, yes, Jan 6.

Something to ponder. Back in 2002/2003 I lived and worked in Port -au-Prince. It is a known fact that there are "special vendors:" that specialize in preparing small animals (including cats) for consumption in Haiti. Not saying that this is in-fact happening in OH, but it's certainly plausible.
