Erick, I wanted to share this from the LCMS regarding communion at this time. It's a big deal that we won't all be together in body this weekend and Easter but, the article reminds us that we aren't the first to go through the distancing we're experiencing. So did Martin Luther!
I am not a "young Evangelical." I approach the end of my "three score and ten" and have been in Conservative, Reformed churches for more than 40 years now. So I agree with Erick's article above. The trouble is that in the big cities, such as NYC, LA, or Philly the cultural climate has been Humanist / Unitarian / Jewish for long enough that one feels that one must move to Alabama, South Carolina, or Kansas to have meaningful participation in the social and cultural life of his neighbors. Or maybe God will let us go minister and teach His Word in Africa or the Ukraine! Indeed I know an eye surgeon who was part of the medical faculty of the University of Pennsylvania who took his family and has done exactly that. His ministry in Ethiopia is called "Sight for Souls" He removes cataracts for thousands who otherwise could not afford it, and he does not need to mourn that colleagues and neighbors all profess belief in "gay marriage."

So, so good.

A timely message. I wish we would hear it more often from the pulpit.
