"With the cheering section of the American press corps telling the Democrats to go for broke, they simply forgot basic math.

A fifty seat Senate and a five seat margin in the House with losses at the state legislative level in 2020 is not a mandate."

And Democrats and their supporters know that this is true. If you point this out, point out that Biden only won 51.3% of the popular vote, point out the the only reason they control the Senate is because the other guy and his allies convinced their own voters (who represented 2/3s of all voters from the general not showing up for the run-off) to boycott the Georgia run-offs, note that the polls predicted a Democrat blow out in the House yet they lost seats to one of the narrowest of House majorities in years, note the inconsistent modeling and hysteria over climate change from a new ice age 45-50 years ago to the fact that we should already be dead or dying from global warming, note the inconsistencies in dealing with the science regarding the virus, and note that they have given themselves over to the religion of sciencism on the latter two matters, they become eerily silent. The sound of the crickets is deafening. And In regards to the pandemic, it seems that their best response remains, "but Republicans...", to which they deservedly get the gif of Donald Duck's hand.

First, thank you Joe Manchin. A politician with principles. I wish he was our senator. Second, Fauci needs to be in jail. Third, I sincerely wish you, your family, and your staff a very Merry Christmas. To all have a blessed, safe and HEALTHY new year.

I am more of a skeptic. I suspect Manchin has the same fungible principles as Romney. Politicians are politicians. I do appreciate what appears to be a reasoned stance.

I'm old enough to remember when majority of Dems thought like Joe Manchin. No more. Looking forward to November 2022 and the red wave. Concerning Fauci, I haven't listened to anything he or the CDC have been parroting since 2020. If the CDC won't event put any funds and time to professionally researching natural immunity, when other countries such as Israel have done great work in that area, then they (CDC) has proven they are just a bought and paid for puppet of Big Pharma. When you have time, go to YouTube and search for "Jim Jordan urges CDC to do a natural immunity study and compare it to the vaccine".

I was born in the 60's and I don't remember Democrats ever being reasonable. We haven't had two parties with different ideas about how to achieve the promise of the Constitution for a long while.

I agree with what you said totally. I just wish it wasn't so long until the election in November 2022.

"The sooner Democrats stop making their agenda about saving America from Trump and move on to saving Americans from inflation, the better off they’ll be."

We see ideology as the god of the Dems. Combine that with purely utilitarian, end-justifies-the-means rhetoric and you have a segment of people in power committed to forcing their ideas rather than concern for their country's general welfare.

The Dems know the window is closing to force their ideology into public policy. They may be lousy political negotiators, but they have ideological fantasies they want to see enacted and enforced. When someone inside the echo chamber disagrees, that person becomes the enemy - in this case Joe Manchin. Yeah, the Dems know 50% of the Senate opposes them, so those "individuals" don't matter. The one that breaks step with the caucus is their panic.

The only time ideology and reality align will be in heaven when NONE OF US HUMANS is in charge.

My hope is we get some good Republican candidates to run. Also Joe Manchin probably saved the Democrats from becoming extinct.

From initial appearance Democrats are doubling down on stupid. But then they have the press to cover for them.

And all those radical Marxists who represent "safe" seats expect Joe Manchin to vote for a bill which if he did so, would get him summarily tossed out of the Senate on his r ear by West Virginia voters? RIGHT.

Hint to Senate Democrats: Losing seats in a 50-50 Senate isn't a winning strategy. But, IF you insist, then please by all means feel free to carry on.
