The question is, is this law needed? Are we actually enforcing the laws on the books currently? If not, 1) do that first and 2) why would a new law be enforced when existing ones aren’t?

When you can't write it down on a 3X5 card either: a) you haven't thought through it clearly, or b) you are trying to screw me by overwhelming me with thousands of pages of legalistic BS.

This is laughable Erick. You know this has nothing to do with trusting congress or Biden not using his current authority. The simple truth (that you know deep down) is that this deal would have made the situation at the border (on balance) better tomorrow than it is today. There is one simple reason its dead (which you know). Trump doesn't want Biden to get a win and tells congressional republicans to kill it - End of story. Enough of this trust / reading room fairy tale. I don't trust congress to do anything - under your logic does that mean I don't want a deal to fund our military?

Stop carrying water for Trump and the republicans in congress that he and is maga cult control.

The Democrats run on voter demographics. Theirs is a political marketing operation. 2016 first caused them to consider they were out of touch with the majority, but that quickly changed to a strategy to capture demographic groups. Youth, female and minority. With minority, if they could flood the nation with new immigrants and get them voting in local elections at least until their offspring could vote as older Americans die off (COVID assisted conveniently). This agenda is completely clear. The great replacement theory is real.

If Biden can pick a pen and make it acceptable, forced even, to allow men to compete in female sports against biological females. Then he can do the same for the border and shut it tight.

He doesn’t need congress.

He could also send troops and equipment to make sure.

He won’t. This is a political move meant to make the republicans look bad. “Ooo look the mean ole republicans rejected my border bill. It’s all them not me. “

When someone gives you a sh€^€! Sandwich calls it a gift and then complains when you reject it. That’s dem liberal politics.

One more thing if we enforced the laws we have we wouldn’t need congress wasting time and writing more

Agree completely.

Did you know that the first time Americans became concerned about illegals flooding the nation was way way back around the 1790's when pols became concerned about an influx of French who might change the balance of power?

Saying we finally need laws to protect our borders is a full-on fat juicy lie and has been since around 1795.

Cheers

It is just going to get worse as the election nears and then particularly if Biden loses. There will a complete torrent of illegal migrants ( I don’t like the double meaning of the word alien) trying to make it into the interior of the US before January 20, 2025 . The country and particularly the Southwest will be completely overrun.

Spot on with what you wrote. There is just 1 thing I would add. I read today that Federal law describes them at "aliens". So "migrant" is a fake woke term right there with "unhoused" and "food insecure". Whether you like the term or not, today we have two groups of aliens here. Those who came legally, became Americans, and thrived like my ancestors did, and Illegal Aliens who sneak in and give us the finger.

no willingness to secure the border, there is no trust to do something new when the present laws are ignored...

This is the crux of the matter. It's the gun control playbook, just one more law will save lives, except functionally there is no "new" law it is an attempt to ban and confiscate because existing laws are simply not enforced.

If existing laws are not enforced first, everything else is smoke and mirrors and nothing but an attempt to eliminate the problem by redefining it to not be a problem.

If Biden could actually give a useful speech to the nation and, umm, lead, he could have gotten it passed. But he can’t speak except in gibberish. He can’t lead because he’s a bookmark.

It is an abomination of a bill even if Biden could be coherent.

I totally agree. Without completely closing the border nothing less is acceptable. Why is it that ONE MAN, through executive order, can completely change this country with the stroke of a pin? It does not comport with equality between the three branches of government. It is WAY too much power for one branch to have AND it violates current immigration law. Can't we do something about this???

I long for the day when an American president puts the American people first. Biden and the Dems have no interest in following the Constutution or existing laws to end the crisis at the border.
