"The world was shocked to see men falling from the sky, having lost the strength to hang on to the exterior of airplanes." Again, we see the hand of evil forcing people to act in despair. just as they did in New York 20 years ago. We have all had a scab ripped off wounds of varying depths. The deepest are those borne by the men and women who served in Afghanistan; they served nobly, honorably, and well, and this is their thanks. Those who bear the wounds of almost 50 years ago are freshly broken today, too. They hoped that what happened to them in 1975 wouldn't be revisited upon another generation, and had their hopes cruelly dashed. Even the threat of impeachment has lost its power, after the Democrats so cheapened and debased that process twice.

I pray that we can somehow regain our footing, but fear that we really have entered what Mark Levin calls, "post-Constitutional America". Truly dark times await us.

" Now, the Taliban have beaten the United States military because of your hubris, your vanity, and your incompetence. You are too old and incapable to do the job and have destabilized the world and our national security."

Please, Joe. you have fucked up beyond imagination. Let Kamala step in and fuck up even worse.

Then the country can (hopefully) recover

Erick, I must disagree with you on Biden resigning. Harris would be worse. I am also very disappointed with our military leaders. Biden needs to stop medaling with the military. Let Central command do its job. If we need to get another airfield then take it. We have done it before, do it again. Tell the Taliban that we will be getting our people out if they like it or not. If we don't, I fear we will have another hostage crisis like we did during the Carter administration, that will drag on for years.

Be careful what you wish for. Heads need to roll from the top down. Not just Biden, but the whole damned administration including the Pentagon. You cannot tell me that you can't take our military and walk the streets to get out the rest of our Americans. And if you harm a hair on anyone's head we will blast you to all eternity. When did we become such cowards. ( I am certainly not talking about our boots on the ground military) Shut off the money to Pakistan who funds the Taliban with our tax dollars and see what happens. Where the hell is Congress in all this.

As arrogant as Biden is, he will never resign.

I usually agree with you, but not this time. We need Joe Biden to remain the face of the Democrat party...with his bold faced lies, callous disregard for the Afghan people and hypocrisy on full display before the public until AFTER the 2022 midterms. They're a year away...and something new will undoubtedly be filling the news cycle before then (Covid-21?), but even the Democrats realize how badly the Afghanistan debacle is hurting their party and many are scrambling to distance themselves from it. If Biden resigns, they'll be able to do that more easily...right now, the attack ads against the Democrats are writing themselves.

I agree with you Erick. I worked in Afghanistan in 2012 and 2013. The events of the last week have made me physically ill. The people in Afghanistan are some of the most caring, humble, and friendly people I have ever met....and I have traveled for work to over 60 countries. I am sick and tired of party talking points being the main outcome of this disaster. The blame game does not matter at this point. The US Depts of State and Defense needs to get their "stuff" together and act like the world leader we are supposed to be and evacuate the American citizens and the Afghani SIVs asap!

Good for you Erick though Harris will be even more of a disaster.

With all due respect, pressuring the head of a foreign power to announce a pretend investigation by threatening to withhold appropriated aid in order to damage one's political rival is neither mean nor combatative. It's a breath-taking violation of common decency and the oath of office.

Shame on you, Erick, for minimizing his crimes.

Erick, I'll be (so far) the lone dissenter. Agree that this Administration has a lot of blame for recent events. However, each of the Presidents from Bush, Obama, and Trump bear their share too. Historians will ask why didn't the American people didn't formulate a policy of forever peace in the region like we've done elsewhere in the world.

As appealing as this idea is, I don't know if we really want to start down this road. If Biden's decision making is this bad but he refuses to resign, what's next? Neither Impeachment nor the 25th Amendment were written to be used as a 'no confidence' vote. This is another indication that we've abandoned the idea that the Legislature has the power to affect change by legislating, as the eviction moratorium extension also demonstrated. General officers as well as the heads of the unified commands are approved by Congress. If there is actual bipartisan interest in good government and proper administration, not just partisan sniping at Presidential decision making, then Congress needs to take the reins, impartially investigate the events that lead up to this debacle, and make changes to the organization and mission of the appropriate departments through laws passed and approved as the Constitution outlines.

Swapping the body sitting behind the Resolute Desk is just another indication that we've abandoned our principles of democratically elected government in favor over rule by strong hands.

Biden should resign, but I would be very surprised if it actually happened. It is pathetic how he is blaming everyone but himself for this disaster.

Thank you Erick. However, it’s going to get much much worse. Most Americans are looking at their phones and don’t see any of this. Sad.

Thank you! Biden has made the US the laughing stock of the World-and rightly so. He needs to go NOW!
