Live on my show today, I interviewed Congressman Dan Bishop (R-NC). He is one of the twenty conservatives refusing to vote for Kevin McCarthy for Speaker. Earlier today, Fox News reported that Bishop would quit if McCarthy won. That isn’t true. Bishop talked about how that story came about, why he is holding out, and what his end game is.
Thank you for clearing that up for me. I would want it in writing as well. It irritates me that more conservatives won’t step up and support this now that it’s a real possibility and not a wish upon a star. These are things we’ve been asking for and they are within our grasp!
I think I was expecting something with a little more clarity on the “why” of this effort. With all due respect, Rep. Bishop said all the right phrases but didn’t really deliver the goods. When they get what they want... which is what?... will they let everybody know what they got?
I have a question. Very simply put, I’ve heard a list of things the group of 20 want and it all sounds good to me. I believe most if not all of the list has now been agreed to by McCarthy. So why are they still holding out? I understand the lack of trust but is there more to it?
Because publicly the McCarthy team said they'd given them everything, but in reality they had refused to put it in writing with enforcement mechanisms that would earn the group's trust.
I want what the holdouts want transparency no crisis government let the house work and getting it in writing is the only way it will happen
