A few weeks or so after Thanksgiving, I was sitting on my front porch with two friends. We were sharing some bourbon and cigars and my phone lit up with a message from Rush. He and my wife have variants of the same type of lung cancer, though hers was caught very early and her treatment has thus far contained it. But Rush knew she had an older iPhone with touch-ID and he had been chiding me to upgrade her. He didn’t quite understand my wife’s resistance to technology and insisted I was neglecting my wife by failing to give her a state of the art phone.
I love this story have heard and read it many times.. It makes me smile. Yes I am a dork. But I have often wondered the point of the first paragraph. It ends with "my phone lit up with a message from Rush". We never revisit that. Was it about your friends be surprised? Was it about you being surprised? Was it him messaging you at some pivotal point in his life or yours? Am I just a poor reader and failed to follow? No matter, I love the insight to Rush and to you, but I have always been curious.

I have lost a friend today. A friend who I never met or spoke to, but a friend who shared his wisdom and his love for our country with me and his many, many fans. There will never be another Rush. And now he is healed.
You made me cry...especially the last line. I've been teary all day and your closing put me over the edge. My sadness comes from Rush having to witness our country fracturing as he himself was fighting for his life. I hope he knows how much he did for America and how much we loved him. It makes my heart sing to know he is in Heaven with Our Lord and Savior. Thank you, Erick, for your wonderful tribute.

I'll always remember my dad driving my brother and I to elementary school, having Rush on the radio. RIP to the conservative of all conservatives. May God bring peace to his blood and professional families.

My younger sister and I are "Rush babies." We were homeschooled and he was the voice of our childhood.
I loved Rush Limbaugh so much! I’m going to miss his voice and love for our Country. So glad I get to spend eternity w him❤️🙏🇺🇸
